Okay, I have been a member here for some time now. I never post much but always here on a daily basis. I caught wind of some news today, which is completely hear say.....however, thought I would post it up for your thoughts.

I, myself, aren't too sure of this but my brother told me about it today after he got off work. So the story goes something like this.....

Auburn booster from Ohio gave Auburn a million dollars, however the university doesn't have any information on the money. So according to the school, the money was never received by them. This booster is being prosecuted and is going to be serving time for tax invasion because the university is not showing the money.

During this research, they came to find out that the booster from Victory Land was rigging his machines for football players to come in and win off of the machines in order to pay players.

This is a very short version of the story, and by all means is just hear say from my brother. From his understanding, it is going to be one of the biggest issues in the NCAA regarding players being paid to play.

This has obvious came off of Cam Newton being investigated which has supposedly opened up a huge can of worms. I am sure some of you have already seen the info gathered at Tigerdroppings.com but here is some other info as well.

**This is not my opinion, and is not known facts!! Just hear say**

So what do yall think?

lemme add this also ...from thinking about this for along time..keep your eye on Larry Lankford..he is in the feds ,the feds are involved..I remember someone saying on finebaum long ago did they think the feds could get lankford to squeal on milton..I bet did..he will never get out of feds before he dies, what does he have to lose? They lower his sentence he wears some wires yada yada..I am telling you I think the smoking gun will be larry lankford..

Sorry, but to me that make zero sense.

Are you implying that someone in Ohio is smart enough to make a million dollars to funnel to a school in Alabama illegally, but not smart enough to claim it on his taxes?

If we know that this person has jail time awaiting them, then there has been a trial, which means that it was discovered and investigated already by the IRS. And are we to believe that all of this has happened since last Summer?

And what does this guy in Ohio have to do with rigged Slot Machines?

:headscratch:

Related to this, at least indirectly, is that prepaid debit cards are likely to come up in the investigation. Very difficult to track.

Having followed the Langford case, I wouldn't be surprised if he turned snitch on MacGregor. As said above, what would he have to lose Still, I can't make a connection between that and Langford having information that would implicate Auburn.

I can't believe Rane would go yella and turn on his buddy.

I am actually from Abbeville. Live here at the moment and work in the circle city/the dot/ d-town/dothan. lol

As far as the other thing is concerned, the supposedly have someone on tape from a wire tap that brought Cam Newton into all this, which is one of the reasons all of the "Cam Newton" stuff came about.

The feds were investigating the other guys which ended up leading them towards Auburn and the info started coming out the flood gates.

Like I said, it is all hear say. If you read the link I put out there, it goes into details about the slot machine comment and puts it "all together" so to speak. It is just one thing leading to the next and starts way back in the day when Bowden used to be the coach. He publicly admitted they were paying players at Auburn when he was the head coach. It is all in that article I posted.

Supposedly he claimed it on his taxes, but Auburn couldn't show them ever receiving the money, which led him to get into trouble with tax invasion. Once one person gets into trouble, they normally just start to roll on the next guy to save them some time from the jail.

^^Tax Evasion

This goes right along with rumors that I have heard:

FBI has a list of at least 17 Barn players that have been paid in some form or fashion
Milton McGregor has provided some magical Langford slot machine cards for the Barn
Bobby Lowder has provided (not pre-paid) nameless ATM cards that go to a bank account with no name to Barn players

This is pure hearsay, but if true will hopefully result in SACS taking away the Barn's accredidation as they almost did 6 years ago. If this is truly going on this is lack of institutional control beyond what was uncovered even at SMU.

That was a great read, thanks for posting. I'm of the opinion that sometimes things seem so obvious because they are, and I think we have a case of that at the Barn. There's no way that this can just blow over, SOMETHING has to happen.

The nearly tyrannical control of Bobby Lowder and the fact that Pay Dye has not only been allowed to stick around all these years but is actually a cult hero with Board seats, etc., speaks volumes to me. The EXTREMELY sudden and meteoric rise of Home Depot College Football Coach of the Year Gene Chizik and the SUDDEN vault of Auburn recruiting ALL WITHIN ONE YEAR's SPAN seems suspect to me to say the least. Chizik was a loser at Iowa State JUST TWO SEASONS AGO(!!). He went 3-9 in his first year at Iowa State (2007) and then 2-10 in 2008 - LOSING HIS LAST 10 GAMES IN A ROW - but this coach was Auburn's "guy." Could it be because the rumors that Bowden and Tubby didn't like to play along with Lowder and Dye's pay-for-play games are true and that CotY Chizik agrees to be the puppet they need who conveniently turns a blind eye so they can bring him the players?

You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to smell something fishy in all of this...

I remember seeing Dye being interviewed by one of the local sports guys here in B'ham when Chizik was hired. He appeared to be as happy as a kid in a candy store. It was no secret that Tubby ran Auburn while he was there, and Dye was not exactly a welcome site around the program when Tubbs was there. I thought at the time of the Chizik hire that Dye seemed extremely chipper. I didn't know if he was putting on, because it was such a lack luster hire, of if he was truly excited because he would actually be around the program again with the ability to have some input. (See Johnny Majors and the Fulmer years at UT)

On a side note. I did think it a bit odd to hire Chizik who has proven jack squat at ISU, however we hired Stallings and he had been mediocre at best in all of his HC spots. We all know how he turned out. With the right support and right amount of control over a program, you can have success.

Let's keep Stallings in proper context, however. He did win a SWAC championship with TAM, and he left in 1971 - we didn't hire him until 1990. Between '71 and '90 he coached in the NFL, mostly with Dallas where he was quite successful, hence his hiring with the Cardinals as HC. He didn't do well with the Cardinals, but NOBODY has done well with the Cardinals. Chizik started out as an assistant at; MTSU, followed by Stephen F. Austin (1-AA) and then Auburn's staff as DC. He then had his disaster at Iowa State before coming back to Auburn.

No matter how you slice it, he appears to have been hand-picked as an Auburn homey willing to "play ball."
