🏈 Injury updates?

I believe you are right on Ingram Bird, but, as bad as it is for Hootie, I don't think we've had a safety that can cover the pass and stop the run as well as Thompson can in several years. I'm really excited for this young man. I talk to his father quite often, and he has really worked hard for this opportunity since his arrival at the Capstone.

I hear he's great at gang tackling and jumping on the pile also!!! OK, bad joke.

I agree with Birdman. If he wasn't significantly ahead of Hootie, who's in mix as the least effective DB we've seen in the Saban era... DT probably has some work to do. I personally think he will do better than Hootie but don't expect him to be special anytime soon.

Thanks for the info! Hope you're right about Tua... RTR

the fact Brown and Jones were 2 of our best 6 DBs scares the schitt out of me for the playoffs and for 2018.

If the DBs had the attrition that the LBs were hit with guys would have stepped up. You do remember that a converted sophomore WR started the season over Levi Wallace. Now, don't ask me why, especially given Levi's play last season, but this is the Bama way with certain positions. A position coach Saban has a big hand in.

Yeah it's hard to know what kind of shape we're in. I have the same thought as Easytider in regards to TB and HJ... "That's the best we got?!". But I think sometimes Saban prefers the vet over young talent when the choice isn't clear cut. I guess we didn't have any young DB's clearly beat them out. But I'm hoping its the old Denzell Devall situation where Saban had studs waiting but couldn't pull the trigger... We'll see

Saban seems extremely loyal to this players... often allowing experience play over skill level. But mostly that has worked.
Last year's O break down in the championship game... that was as much Kiffin/Sark issue as it was Jalen. Will never understand the lack of running plays after Bo went down. So often Bama seems to not be able to see what is happening on the field and just trusts in what they are being forced to do by the opposing d.
Seemed to happen against MSu and the Barn this year

And I still remember CJ Mosley getting subbed out of big ballgames until his senior year. The biggest gripe I have with the position is why it's not more of a plug and play. Dumbing it down isn't an insult and just letting kids read and react seems like a good way to get youngsters on the field. Like next year.
