As for the "jinx" people place on the Heisman winner. It is just as childish as those that use to believe Bama would lose just because Gameday was on campus or if Corso picked Bama.:lance: I guess the '92 Bama defense wasnt that great. Miami only lost because Torretta won the Heisman. Dang! So if he didnt win, then the Canes would have won. :lance:
I never indicated any jinx associated with a player winning the heisman. I agree it would be good for an Alabama player to win the award but not at the expense of losing composure of the team or what it takes to win. Too often the Heisman run is a beauty contest of it's own and coaches that are interested in helping a player achieve this award have to game plan around profiling the athlete and helping him pad his numbers. That may not be what the team needs to win the game against X, Y or Z or it can simplify the game plan for opposing teams. The other side is teammates can develop a lack of respect for the player because their contribution is being overlooked. All I am saying is that if Mark wins it great, but I hope our coaches continue doing what it takes to win games rather than letting this become a part of the game plan.
