Unfortunately his last touch was the fumble. You could tell he was fuming at himself on sidelines. He'll be looking for self-imposed redemption and take it out on LSU in two weeks. As self-motivated as that young man is anyway, I wouldn't want to be in his way when he couples that with being pissed off too.

he couldnt help it...they kept him on his feet while 2 guys were tackling him, and another was ripping the ball out. it was coming out regardless....that was their plan. i dont blame him for it. he did good, 99 yards regardless.

i wwas just going to read, but i felt like i should log in and post on this one.. i really hope ingram doesn't get down on himself for that.. espcially if tennessee would have hit the last field goal.. i was actually thinking about that before TN kicked it.. ingram is a great player and was thrown into the press after last week with no choice.. the irony of the fumble is that i didn't even know his no fumble stat until last week.. my point is that the expectations on some of these guys can really mess their heads up when they make mistakes, and it's really not fair to set them up that way.. look at mcelroy.. he was a very confident quaterback, but struggled a bit against ole miss and it started a downhill cycle... mark ingram is the man and everyone should reassure him of that this week, because all he is going to hear is how he fell out of the heisman race..

Absolutely, I don't put any blame on MI for the drop and I'd hope he doesn't blame himself.

...then again, remember the part above about taking it out on future opponents.

I don't believe it did. But it would have helped his case to have another 100+yd game if that drive had kept going.

My thoughts exactly. I was so worried about him. So glad it didn't come to that. That could have been extrememly difficult to deal with (think Ed Scissum Iron Bowl). So glad it didn't come to that. I can't repeat it enough.

Winning a Heisman is like kissing your sister, let's win a National Championship. It wouldn't bother me a bit to never hear another Bama players name in the contention for the Heisman as long as we are winning. It would have been fine to for a player to win one as a consolation prize during the past ten years or so, but now there are bigger things and I kind of like not having one with twelve national championships on the verge of thirteen. Personally, I think the team is better off as a team without someone getting the limelight. Heck all the media is wanting to do is build it up so they have a story if we fall. If Mark or anyone in the future wins this award so be it, but winning games is all that matters. With our recruiting the past couple years, we have a team full of Heisman candidates and this talk of one of the many just complicates the team concept IMO. Personally, I wish it would all go away. End soap box.

Just a great strip by the Tennessee defender. If there is one downside to the power running of Ingram and Richardson, they're more vulnerable to strips since they stay up-right much longer then most RB's.

There's no doubt in my mind he'll bounce back in two weeks.

I have no problem with a Bama player winning the Heisman. I cant wait to see it happen. I'm the opposite. If a great guy like Shaun Alexander had a shot or another great team guy like Ingram can have a shot then great. It draws attention of recruits. I'm tired of the trivia question. "What major award has Alabama not won?"

Yes, the only reason Bama never won one is the rotation of beasts that coach Bryant had for years. Its a different game these days. A team guy can win the Heisman. This bullcrap about it just being and individual award is foolish. If Ingram was to win it he would absolutely place gratitude on the lineman, the QB, the WR's blocking, the coaches, and all of his teammates.

As for the "jinx" people place on the Heisman winner. It is just as childish as those that use to believe Bama would lose just because Gameday was on campus or if Corso picked Bama.:lance: I guess the '92 Bama defense wasnt that great. Miami only lost because Torretta won the Heisman. Dang! So if he didnt win, then the Canes would have won. :lance:

Have you ever heard Scissum talk about it? I hope he was able to get past it. The Alabama fans were nothing but supportive and encouraging. He got hundreds of letters from fans stating it wasn't his fault (mine included). Did he forgive himself though? I sure hope so.

Like most I didn't like the play choice. The safe choice would have been to give it to SA one more time and make the barners use their last TO. But if by some chance they had called a fake to Alexander and had Freddy bootleg it the other was he'd probably still be running, even as slow as he was.
