Alabama has won their first National Titles in 3 different Sports- Softball, Women's Golf, and Men's Golf. All have been against stiff competition and the softball title was the first ever for the SEC. Pretty amazing stuff if you think about, and certainly exciting for folks like me who love The University and follow all the sports. We aren't just a Football School any more folks.

I was a little kid when we had our run in the '70's, but I recall it vividly. I've mentioned how special it is to relive this level of success as an adult.

When people try to compare the two era's you'll see some steadfast on the '70's while others say what we're in now is unprecedented. They're both right in their own way.

However, when we get to see this in football again and it's coupled with these other teams having this level of success as well? This era is the best.

I was thinking about what you posted a few hours ago recalling how often I used to hear things like Bama is a football school, you don't have any "real" national titles, etc.

Think about this for a second Brandon. In just a little over four years we've seen teams at UA bring home eight national titles.

Eight.

Reminds me...

I'm hoping our golf stays as a powerhouse like this. Everyone will look at Alabama as a football team first, but if there was something I would like for UA to be a considered a powerhouse also, it would have to be golf. Much like with LSU. Football first, baseball second. Auburn: football first, swimming second.

With Robby Shelton coming in, along with Dru Love (who certainly has the pedigree), the future is in good hands. Plus, you have to figure, just like other sports, the national title will only help Seawell in his recruiting efforts.

It's important to note that even though some believe we aren't just a football school, and we're not, football paves the way for success in other sports. It brings in the money needed for facilities, personnel and much, much more. We're not a just a football school, but football is clearly in the drivers seat.

Props to our golfers. For a good span of years only Sarah Patterson's girls sustained the kind of excellence that we all like to see. CNS has restored the football program to that lofty level, and now the golf programs have joined in. Softball slipped a little this year, but I expect us to be back. In spite of yesterday's 9th inning mellt down, baseball seems headed in the right direction. I wnat all our sports programs to be programs we can take pride in.

Very proud of our teams that won NC last year and this year. It is vital that Bama be decent in every sport and not just football. I am really hoping our new ladies bb coach will be able to get the program headed in the right direction.
