🏈 In spite of it all, he deserves this. "The moment that Peyton Manning found out he was heading to the Pro Football HOF"

Hell, I have never had a problem with him. Hate Tennessee, but I wish all ball players had his character. Not sure of the story about him early in college, but he's proven to be a hell of a ball player and a high character guy as a pro.

I have no issues with him, but he's probably much easier to like since we own Tennessee now.
Nine of ten times when I see him I think about Legion Field, 1997. That still doesn't sit real well with me. It changed, the sting of seeing his little show, when I saw him lead the band in Rocky Top (2012) following a win over Vandy. Celebrating a win over Bama by leading the band versus celebrating a win over Vandy by leading the band. Man, does that tell the story of UT since '08 or what?!?!?

It's easy to separate his college days at UT with what he accomplished in the league.

Me n you on this one....
I always saw him as a whiner....
And...no NC in CF....couldnt beat the gators...lol

He does not get a free pass from me for his antics in Birmingham. He is a Vile which will always hang over his head. No way to spend time in that program w/o getting some crap on you.

Nothing but respect for Peyton the Pro and this is what the video is about. As for him and his UT days, if I could’ve gotten to him from my seat in Legion Field in ‘97, Peyton wouldn’t have enjoyed the career in the NFL that he did. I would likely still be in prison to this day, but his ass would’ve never led the band in Rocky Top again!😂

My wife and went to Gatlinburg in 96 and we drove over the Bama vs UT game. The big RB's broke that 80 yarder to pretty much end the game for us and now that guy is our special teams coordinator and Peyton is going into the hall of game. You just never know what you're actually seeing and how it will unfold in the coming years.

He is classless

I'm confused. What's to be in spite of? Sure he did some things that Alabama fans didn't like (like beating them, leading the band) but winners are given that option. The NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame is for his success in the pros, not college. Does anyone think he doesn't deserve that? Don't let your hate for Tennessee cloud your judgement.

Off the field, he was not a good person when he was in college. There's a huge "in spite of."

Leading the band ticked me off as a fan. The sexual assault of the female trainer deserves the caveat.

That daddys money bought him out of!!!!!

and sealed the buy out agreement

great QB. No doubt about that.

but as a person. Blaaaaa

Hall of Fame QB. Give him that

I realize I'm on a pretty lonely island here, but the leading of the band stuff just isn't a big deal to me. Like OldPlayer alluded to, to the victors go the spoils... I say this all the time, but it is stuff like that, that makes the SEC so great. The little extra spice added to the rivalries. Everything auburn does annoys me, but if they didn't do that stuff, the rivalry wouldn't mean as much to me. It's the pettiness that helps set the SEC apart from other conferences. Stuff like aubie trolling LSU by wearing a Troy costume in Baton Rouge when LSU was coming off a loss to Troy, then losing to LSU. Alabama sound guy trolling Cam Newton before the game with his music selections, then Cam beating UA. Countless examples of stuff like that. But, if one is bothered by Manning hopping on a ladder and leading the band after a win over the Tide, they'd do well to get off the grid for a while the moment the Vols beat Alabama again (whenever that is).

I don't remember the specific details of the stuff that happened with the female trainer. I don't recall it ever getting into the criminal realm, but only the civil side? There hasn't been even a hint of anything like that since though, and has done a whole lot of good over the years that would probably outweigh the poor decisions he made then. Again, just my opinion.

On good authority he teabagged her. Those he pointed to in his defense denied his claims.

Eli was a lot like Peyton in college. I saw that first hand, a few times.

Then people grow up

Teabagger! I remember some gal that Eli hung with at Ole Miss was in the playboy girls or Worldcom or Enron or something. And she was a worthy. Can’t tell me he was a saint... she wasn’t a church girl, at least like the church girls I knew.
