šŸˆ In spite of it all, he deserves this. "The moment that Peyton Manning found out he was heading to the Pro Football HOF"

I realize I'm on a pretty lonely island here, but the leading of the band stuff just isn't a big deal to me. Like OldPlayer alluded to, to the victors go the spoils... I say this all the time, but it is stuff like that, that makes the SEC so great. The little extra spice added to the rivalries. Everything auburn does annoys me, but if they didn't do that stuff, the rivalry wouldn't mean as much to me. It's the pettiness that helps set the SEC apart from other conferences. Stuff like aubie trolling LSU by wearing a Troy costume in Baton Rouge when LSU was coming off a loss to Troy, then losing to LSU. Alabama sound guy trolling Cam Newton before the game with his music selections, then Cam beating UA. Countless examples of stuff like that. But, if one is bothered by Manning hopping on a ladder and leading the band after a win over the Tide, they'd do well to get off the grid for a while the moment the Vols beat Alabama again (whenever that is).

I don't remember the specific details of the stuff that happened with the female trainer. I don't recall it ever getting into the criminal realm, but only the civil side? There hasn't been even a hint of anything like that since though, and has done a whole lot of good over the years that would probably outweigh the poor decisions he made then. Again, just my opinion.
Actually the stuff with the trainer came up again...don’t remember the circumstances...but the Manning family lawyers stepped in...and this wasn't that long ago...

well...you are right....we should get over leading the bandstuff...
Was classless ...but should have expected such from Tennessee...

and ....do i dread the day ....when Tennessee does finally beat bama again....living here....and being a very vivid bama supporter....and vivid in community...( not as much anymore)....and after 14-15-16-17-18 etc years....

will just have to man up and take it....yuck

We should; I won't. :devilish::p

Should Dallas fans "get over" Terrell Owens spiking the ball on the Star?
Should LSU fans get over Auburn, and Tubs, smoking cigars on the Tiger Eye in Baton Rouge after a win?

I've seen UGA fans rip down flags, etc., around campus. Should I get over that? Okay, not really the same ball park, but you get my 'drift.'

I'll always remember Peyton and the band. It's a small portion of what fuels my feelings towards their football program.

@TerryP
I think there ia a difference in a lot of it...
Some is just good humor....putting cam shirt on bear statue was funny
..playing "take the money and run" at game was funny...

Poisoning trees was not .... seriously low class

leading band..like ur qualified to do it...Tennesseeish....AUish..classless
You know..go up in stands and sing RTop...
Act like u have been there...( i know they weren’t for so many years)

bama has never rushed field after win...class...been there before..

do things on other teams logos...not funny...amateurish

flipping off fans ...low class...

when fans talk about class of fans...this is what I bring up

This is my point pretty much summed up. It is the type of thing that fuels the rivalry, which IMO, makes the rivalry that much better (there are cases where folks go too far... Fulmer for example, Harvey, etc.). I'll throw out an example nobody else here would even care about but me. The Dodgers. Being a Diamondbacks fan, it sucked to see them clinch the pennant on Arizona's field in 2013. The feeling was compounded when the Dodgers leaped the fence and celebrated in the pool behind right field after the game. There was already bad blood between the teams, so the Dodgers took the opportunity to really rub it in and get a very loud last laugh that season. In the end, it was really no harm, no foul... but it added even more juice to the rivalry (which has admittedly been mostly one sided).

I get fans hating Manning for leading the band, that's fandom. But many of the same fans would have wet themselves with excitement had Mac Jones done the same thing after beating LSU this season. Would he have been classless? Or would it have been deserved after what LSU/Orgeron did last year in Bryant-Denny?

Despite what Verne and Gary said at the time, I didn't find it to be out of bounds when Julio and Mark Ingram mocked the Gator Chomp, figuratively taping it's mouth shut as the seconds ticked away in the '09 SECCG. I thought it was awesome, and looking back, it was some pretty good foreshadowing on what was to come. If we take that sort of stuff away, the SEC is no longer the SEC. Even when we are on the receiving end of it at times, as irritating as it can be, it's all worth it IMO.

Tennessee.

If there were never any bad guys, there would be no good guys.

Coaches, players, moments fuel rivalries. Without them them what do we have? A bunch of regular folks doing regular stuff.

At the same time, you'll never get "shut up" if you don't open your mouth. Saban's ability to not produce bulletin board material has become impeccable. I'd say it's worked pretty well.

There's a fine line to walk... But if/when you win... That's the most important "statement".

I say all that to say I can appreciate the other team talking shit more than my own! Motivation is always helpful! RTR

ingram n jones could do whatever they wanted. Manning couldsing RT at top of his voice. They earned it

manning thinking he is a band director is insulting to even the band.
He is a zero. And a whiney bitch.

Maybe we will get this... Arch Manning signs with Bama, beats Tennessee in a SECCG for a playoff berth, then hops up in the stands and leads The Million Dollar Band in Rammer Jammer....

The one other thing I remembered from that game at Legion Field (aside from the band thing) was Freddie Kitchens getting pressured and sacked relentlessly in that game. Late in the game, poor Freddie was knocked down and left to sit there on his ass while the rest of the team trotted to the sideline. Peyton ran from his sideline and helped Freddie off his ass which I considered a classy move on a friggin miserable night. Small thing? Maybe. It stood out to me though.

I know I am old school but I did not like the Gator Chomp nor would I be excited about Mac Jones doing something like that against LSU/Orgeron. As a great player was quoted as saying recently "We do not do that here".

he-needs to go to ole ms or Tennessee....then...
Lead the band...grab the pom-poms from the cheerleaders...rush the field..

And...gulp.....i am no fan of the rammer jammer either @BamaFan334 ...
( you know ...beata 2-6 Duke team by 4 points and scream...we just beat the hell outta you......really)

I remember the SECCG in Atlanta when all the Gator fans threw packs of sugar at us after we lost. Now how did all of them come up with that idea at the same time. Most restaurants had a sugar shortage that morning.
