🏈 I'll just leave this right here... RE: Hurts

20-45 188 yards in the last 2 games is what people call a regression. 44% passing isn't going to cut it. These numbers are hurt by some drops, but there weren't 25 drops!! I didn't include the UF game because that game was more under control and 14 attempts doesn't really get a QB in a rhythm anyway. Like @94 Grad said, teams charted what we threw the most and keyed on them and said, "we will take our chances over the middle since the OC doesn't really attack that area.
To say imagine what Tua can or will do is asinine!! We won't see it unless he beats out Jalen in the Fall. Jalen will get plenty of work and chances to improve on his intermediate and deep passing game. I think if Tua pushes hard enough, he will get a few more series in games with the opportunities to run the offense and not be in the final 2 minutes of games.

Is it feasible to say the freshman was exhausted? I'm talking mentally if not physically. Those stats show me a freshman that began to grow in leaps and bounds then finally ran out of steam.

Y'all are hard on a man. I said in another thread and I guess I'll say it here also, ALL new starters hit a wall at the QB position. Coach Saban has eluded to this with every young starter we've had.

28-49 for 212 yards with 0 TDs and 2 interceptions. Those back to back games belong to Greg McElroy in 2009. Against Tennessee and South Carolina. There were rumors that McCarron would have his redshirt pulled in the LSU game is McElroy couldn't get it together. Mind you just rumors, coaches never talked about it. Point is, McElroy has those horrible numbers against 2 teams that weren't even that good in 2009. He was saved by a phenomenal offensive line and eventual Heisman winner Mark Ingram who basically took over the South Carolina game. Had to have a miracle Cody block against Tennessee to remain unbeaten.

After the BYE week McElroy picked it up and didn't look back. He wasn't a true freshman. He hit a wall in the middle of a championship season and was lucky enough for it to be mid season and be bailed out by a fantastic running game. Jalen didn't have that. Running game was good all year, but not 2009 dominate. Offensive line wasn't the 2009 offensive line.

Jalen will be fine. He hit a wall against some very good defenses and didn't have a running game to bail him out.

This. Every bit of it.

I would agree! I probably should have included those sentiments. An 18 year old kid that was used to 3 weeks of HS summer camp and then 10-15 games if they advanced far enough to win a state title. Even then, those 15 weeks in HS is a LONG WAY off from 15 weeks of D1 football. I would say he hit a mental wall. Not a Trump Wall @Birdman37 !! ;):shock: Just messi with you man!!!

A Trump Wall would be him hitting thin air

Nahhh.

If you have 2 QBs, you have none.

Not only did coach Bryant have a 2 QB system during the wishbone era he had 2 offenses and we aren't talking mop up duty. The problem with the 2 QB approach, as it's practiced, is usually that neither guy is good enough to beat out the other. We use to hear this stuff with running backs all the time. If you pull your main guy you keep him from getting in rhythm and it hurts your offense. Now, if you have only one decent running back you're in big trouble. Football is what you make it.
