🏈 I'll go ahead and say it now, "I'm not real worried about LSU."

I'm not worried about LSU either....I believe Bama's week off will be a great thing...the team will get some much needed rest, and i'm sure the coaches will come up with an offensive gameplan that will get the O back on track. So by the time game time rolls around, the Tide will be ready to pounce on LOSER-ANA STATE in all facets of the game.

Roll Tide! :)

To be honest, I'm not too worried about LSU either. I certainly wasn't overly impressed by the beat down they put on Aubarn last night. Auburn came out and basically laid down for em!

I After seeing MSU play UF, I'd be more worried about their defense then LSU's...

The fans may be taking them lightly but the team is not. This team plays hard from start to finish. They look like they come to play well prepared. This was a very tired team that need a break last week.

I don't believe any fan "takes them lightly."

They are the only team in the West that has the same talent we do—and theirs has a bit more experience in SEC play in some positions.

Like I said, I expect it to be a hard fought contest. But, in the end, I really like our chances.

Offensively, I expect Bama will air it out more vertically this game. With the exception of Chad Johnson, the secondary seems to be LSU's biggest weakness on defense. At times, LSU's defensive front appears stout, especially in goal-line situations; but then again, there are other times (outside the twenty) when running straight at them, they can be put back on their heels.

Still, #97 (Al Woods) can pose problems for any offensive line.

As far as Charles Scott is concerned, the LSU coaching staff has NOT taken advantage of his strengths all season--I hope against us they continue to misuse his.

Jefferson is more successful & less of a liability as a passer when he is allowed to roll out. . . . can be very ineffective dropping back and throwing from the pocket.

Don't underestimate Shepard.

LSU receivers keep me scratching my head; they have a tendency to drop the passes they should catch and catch the throws that aren't on target. :headscratch:

Penalties have also been a nemesis for LSU all season.

What concerns me is Bama's kickoff and punt coverage against this team.

You certainly could tell last night that the extra week off really helped LSU in terms of "fresh legs' against Auburn. Very glad that Bama has an extra week to rest and to give some banged up players a chance to recover.

Bama cannot allow to have LSU hanging around like they did Tennessee yesterday; need to jump on 'em early and never let up.

3 weeks ago, I wasn't worried at all. Hell, I'd have told you that we'd beat LSU convincingly. Now? I'm not even close to as confident. Playcalling and QB play are giving me lots to worry about. The only good thing is that LSU's offense is bad. Yeah, they dropped 31 on Auburn, but if there offense was actually good they'd have dropped 50.

Yep...Im concerned...very...Bama cant win unless McElroy steps it up...Bottom line. D and Special Teams will do fine I suspect...NO DOUBT ON THE D...As long as special teams doesnt give up anything big. We gotta get first downs and TOUCHDOWNS...not field goals...when LSU comes to town....if not.....the result will be our first loss.

--8 straight games
--5 straight SEC games
--3 straight top ten defenses

...........repeat as needed

I'm just not that worried about LSU.

They haven't played an exceptionally difficult schedule, and they're 106th in the nation in total offense (306.57 YPG), 83rd in scoring offense (24.14 PPG), and 106th in sacks allowed (3 SPG).

Now, their defense is pretty good. They got gashed pretty good against Washington, and they survived Miss St, but their PED (16th), scoring defense (12th), and total defense (22nd) are ranked very high nationally. That said, their rush defense is only 50th in the nation and 4th in the conference.

I'm highly optimistic that the offense will correct some things in the bye week, and the defense getting rested up will alleviate some of the problems we had against the Vols. If we take care of the ball and play even just slightly better than we have in October, we will beat LSU by 10-14 points and the score won't do the result justice.

Excellent post. Thanks for the research. I, too, am hoping the bye week gives much needed rest and a fresh approach for GMac.

The week off couldn't come at a better time. To offset the speed of LSUs D I think we run right at them between the tackles. I expect to see us throw the ball with more intent on going deep to loosen up the safeties. I wanted to see something out of the wildcat to back UT off, even if it was the play with Greg slinging it deep to Julio. I'm sure we have more wrinkles.

I think we have plenty of stuff hidden away in the playbook, especially for the mad hatter (which Reece Davis called him Saturday night on ESPN, thought that was hysterical). As much as CNS hates (IMHO, anyway) CLM, I think he wants to destroy them this year, especially after such a close game last year.
