šŸˆ If you throw Georgia in the Big12 there's no way they're a top 5 defense every year.

It would be a trade-off to a certain degree but there is no defending the Sooners defense in the Rose Bowl. They were not getting lined up correctly on simple toss plays. I've never seen a team give up so many long runs and then give up the crusher in the wildcat in OT. I don't think that Riley feels he can fire the other Stoop brother out of loyalty to Bob giving him his big break as a youngster. I, on the other hand, would have helped him pack.

He is correct. You can't play great defense in the Big 12.

Was thinking the same thing.
JMO but Tommy Tubberville was a pretty good defensive coach in his day and after one year of trying to play a conventional defense he gave up (Texas Tech) and switched to the spread and tried to just out score everybody. They throw that thing around the park in the Big 12 and they are dayum good at that as well. Give the other fella some credit. The best decision Nick made was skipping the Texas job. He would have crashed and burned trying to contend with defending 75 passing attempts per game. Hell trying to shutdown Hugh Freeze and Gus has been a hell of a challenge.

It would be tough at first but a good coach, who recruits defense well enough could adjust and shut down those offenses. Most of them do not even try, they put all their best players on offense and resources towards that style. Saban has adjusted to the spread and HUNH, by bringing in smaller, faster defenders while keeping enough talented bigger guys for the other games. If he went to Texas, he would just have to stock up more of the smaller, faster guys and just have a few of the bigger dudes, for when he did play a smashmouth team.
