🏈 If You Had To Choose A Coach From The SEC

If we say current HC, Coach McElwain would be a good one. He knows the pressure and expectations here and would develop the kids at QB that he brings into the program.
If we say OC or DC, I say don't let Kirby Smart leave his house in Ttown.

"Butthead" would bring a punishing ground game with him. I don't know what his QB play would earn us though. Great play action as long as the run game is going, but Arky struggles mightily if they must go 2 minute.

I don't believe you can judge how his QB's would play based on what you've seen at Arkansas. To me, that's all about Jim Chaney. He didn't impress me in his four years at UT with Dooley and I thought Bielema hiring him was the worst hire he's made.

@TerryP, I don't base it off of Arky. With the exception of Russell Wilson, Bret really hasn't ever had a QB worth a piss. I agree about the Chaney hire though. It made me scratch my head!

How much of that is due to being Wisconsin?

Let me put that another way...

Let's call that area the upper midwest. With the exception of Ohio, which boasts some good high school programs, can you name a state or program that's had a good QB over the last 10-15 years?

(Come to think of it, wasn't Wilson from Ohio originally?)

Wow, that's a tough question....
As for current HCs, it would have to be a long-term-proven winner (not just a season or two of success.)
- Richt teams win but are too soft, at least on D.
- Miles has proven to be mostly consistent, but has occasional brain ... burps.
- Spurrier... nah.
Miles probably has the best track record.

As for OC/DC, I don't like bringing coordinators on for their first HC gig (al least, not at Bama). However, I might have to look at Smart because he has been in the system for so long that I think he would understand what it takes to succeed. It would be a different role for him and I would hope that he would be just fine in it.

Hopefully, we don't have to be concerned about that for many years to come. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!
