🏈 If my memory serves me right about Colorado

Didn't we play them the first year of Stallings in a bowl game. If so, we all know how that sling-shotted that Alabama team into the national picture.

It seems like Deja Vu.

Big Al is correct. Our first bowl game under Stallings was against Louisville and it was awful. Browning Nagle was a no name QB that looked like Rohan Davey did against us in Franchione's first year at UA. Louisville was coached by Howard Schnellenberger (Bryant disciple) at the time, and they were ready to play. I was 18 years old at the time and I remember one of the sports writers for The Dothan Eagle wrote that the only way Bama was to lose this game was if the bus didn't show up.................guess what. As sickening as the loss was, it was hilarious to see this dill-hole try and crawfish the following article about how he got it wrong.

Currently the Florida Atlantic head coach. Thanks for the history lesson. :D ;tr

No, it was The Blockbuster Bowl. Bama actually probably got shafted a little bit that year. At 10-1, they could have been chosen as the at large team in the Cotton Bowl, but instead they chose 9-2 FSU who was coming off two straight loses (which really didn't make much sense). Heck, they could have picked Alabama for the at large bid in the Sugar and set-up a rematch with Florida, but they took 9-2 Notre Dame.

Bama should have run 8-2-1 Colorado right out of the building, but the defense uncharacteristically struggled in that game. The game was a match-up of Freshman QBs pitting Jay Barker against Kordell Stewart. Barker found a way to generate 30 points in that game (Stallings’ teams weren't known for hanging points on the board) and led the Tide to victory, despite the defensive struggles.

We did play Colorado Stallings second year. Its when they had the QB named Darian Hagan. And we beat them. And we did win the NC the next year.
