🏈 I never thought

aubrun's QB isn't nearly as quick and fast as the Ole Miss freshman, but he's a good runner, as is aTm's guy. We'll need to work more in containing a running QB, particularly when they drop back. Lee does not possess that crazy speed we've enjoyed from our recent linebackers, and that will continue to be a point of emphasis for defenders. They continue to move RB's out wide and have him cover in space.

@bamaledge, Brandon Turnage was getting reps at the end of the game. He's a four in the DB rotation, right? Byron Young was taking snaps with the 1's at NT in the first half.

No doubt the teams started off sluggish. No doubt they were playing well from about three minutes left in the 1st quarter through the half: a 31-0 stretch where Ole Miss had less than 50 yards, ran about 17-19 plays over five possessions.

There are quite a few fan generated post-game critiques out there that make me believe a lot of those guys haven't watched much Bama football. I know that's not the case. I'm sure they have. But the critiques? They have been watching but I'm far from convinced they know what they've been watching (for over 10 years now, mind you.)

Who would have thought a Rich Rod called offense going against a young (middle) of the defense would have some success with a running quarterback?

One's,Two's,Three's but the fact is The Johnny Rebels scored on all of them. This is the worse defense Nick's had since 2007 and we don't have a Ro on this bunch. As of today there is not one elite player on defense that played for Bama yesterday. Not one.

The two freshmen LBers are as confused as a blind queer at a wenny roast.

OH and this has to be the worst tackling team Nick has run out of the tunnel.

1. Jennings
2. Hall
3. Surtain
4. Diggs
5. McKinney
6. Even Davis

All will be playing in NFL (Most of them next year)
Define "Elite"......

@TerryP - It's all potential right now. Based on how we score it now (or most of us on here), if Bama doesn't win the whole thing, then everyone on the team sucks.
Just pointing out that a player can have a down game (Surtain) and it's time to trash him & throw him on the shi- heap!

Bama doesn't have a 1st draft choice on defense unless Moses makes the grade. We do have a bunch of 2/3/5 round guys.

Who has the lowdown on #58 on defense as far as why he didn't get on the field early (I don't recall seeing him at all).

According to Coach Saban on Wednesday & Thursday of this past week, #58 does not do the things he is supposed to do on each play -
Example - doesn't keep gap integrity, slants one way when other 10 players are slanting the other way. In other words, he's trying to make a"great play" every play, and not doing his job on each play.
According to Coach Saban, Barmore will not see meaningful playing time until he starts to do things right every play.

With respect ...you need to take off those Crimson shades and take another look. There is a real talent decline on the Bama defense in 2019. We ain't bad but we can't see greatness from our seat. The good news is #13 and his band of flyers are burning up the scoreboard.

The poor play of the two ILBers are making the rest of the defense appears worse than they are at this point. #35 is too slow but he is the guy having to make the calls.

I would premise that "Tua & his band" are one of the reasons the defense looks worse.
They are back on the field sooner and have to play more plays (I'm not complaining mind you)
It's kinda like the complaints about the lack of a running game - you can only do one of two things each snap - if you pass more, the running game pales by comparision.
As far as the freshmen LBs - lay off of them somewhat, they've been thrown in the fire. I don't know if you played the game, but if so, I doubt you'd want someone to judge you as a freshman in high school - maybe wait a little before you toss them to the heap.

Trust me, I don't see thru "crimson glasses", but I don't always see the glass as 1/2 full either.

By the way, you keep touting Bo Nix, I'd say his sorry ass has looked worse this year that either one of our freshmen Lbs.
Just saying...….

My wife and I was discussing this and she pointed out that it’s an instant society meaning we get and process information instantly via all of the media outlets today as opposed to when most of us was growing up. And a lot of us had to listen to games on the radio.
Very good point Mrs. Ledge

What you're seeing as a decline in talent, others are seeing as inexperience. This "Bama standard" some expect out of true freshman linebackers isn't realistic in my opinion.

I'm thinking saying Lee is "too slow" is a misnomer as well. Too slow for what? He's not supposed to be chasing down quarterbacks scrambling outside and he's not supposed to be catching 4.4 guys either. Plugging the middle as a stout MIKE? That's his role.

Terry...why in the hell is #35 on the filed when Bama is in dime if he can't chase....he has to make the calls so he is the only guy that can do that (at this time so he must be pretty sharp). The fact he is the only LB in dime shows just what a lack of talent Bama has at ILB as of today...42,8,10,36 can't take that spot from a true thumper....Mack going early and the injury to 32 has placed Bama in a tuff spot along with recruiting misses from two and three years ago. It is what it is. As long as #13 is standing then Bama has a chance vs anybody.
