if it doesn't stop raining.

We've had rain for almost a solid week. It's stopped at times, but not for very long. My front yard and my driveway are solid water, right now. It rained earlier today, but stopped and the sun came out for a bit. Now, it's raining like crazy again. I'm done with the rain for a while. We don't need anymore.

Of course in probably a month or 2 it won't rain for 3 weeks and everything will be dry as hell and they'll call it a drought.

I was outside a few minutes ago and heard my pumps kick on for a few seconds. There's no more standing water but the water table is still high enough that the basin is getting full and still kicking out water.(I'd planned on dropping a few fence posts today for a decorative fence highlighting my roses...ain't gonna happen with the water table a couple of inches down.) I've had the pump on for three days now, I guess...since Friday. It pumps a little under 9000 gallons an hour. Saturday, with it running, I still had water building up...took three or four hours to get rid of what was above ground.

On that note, Saturday marked a "first" for the year. The bull frogs are back for the season. It's deafening at times.

HIJACK: Speaking of boats...we're putting the tri-toon in fresh water this week. I don't take the kayak out this time of the year because it's breeding season and the gators are...let's just say, active. And LOUD! Last week there was a lady who rowed over a gator in her canoe and it flipped her, killed her. Accident, no doubt. But, foolish as well. Around 95 percent of all gator attacks come from a situation like that...some idiot getting into an area they should avoid and "chomp."
