I love the big brown truck

^^It has a nice range but I'm sure the IQ isn't all that great on the far end. That and the fact that it's a slow lens wouldn't help much for sports. If I'm going to have a long focal range like that I'd opt for the Canon 400mm f/2.8 L as it;s fast and produces amazing results. But I'd have to rent one because I sure as hell don't have $6000+ to blow on one freaking lens lol.

Here are some thoughts on that Sigma http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=105&sort=7&cat=37&page=3

Oh I know that faster is better. I just don't have the money to purchase a L series. Especially a prime. Anyway I'm looking for the best bang for my buck here. I'm wanting a lens that I can shoot wildlife with but can double as a sports lens (sunny day ;)). I've looked here at some of the pictures taken with this lens and I think it will do what I'm wanting it to do. If anyone can point me to a comparable lens, (price, range, quality, etc) please do so.

I'm still a beginner/novice. I have a lot to learn about composition, proper exposure, etc. Right now my equipment is rather limited.

My equipment list:

350D with kit lens, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Xr Di.

Bag, strap, tripod.

Took my 7D out with me to the trails by my house. It's the first time I've been able to ride since having our newborn so i was itching to get out and wanted to take the new 7D along for the ride. Shots were taken with 135L. These are out of the camera.

I've read some really good things about the 7D. I've seen some complain that it's a crop body but that's why the price is where it's at.

Do you have any complaints so for? Especially since you've switched from Nikon to Canon.

I love mine. I bought it for all the new advanced technology in it. I don't shoot portraits or landscape much so I didn't see the point in me getting a full frame camera. In order for me to get a fast action shooter FF camera I would of had to spend mega bucks and get a 1DS Mark III and even then it's still only a 5 fps shooter. I still have my old Canon AE-1 Program 35mm SLR if I ever get the itch for FF but it's a hassle dealing with film these days. Digital is so convenient.

I have zero complaints. Most of the people I see complain about the 7D is of noise or soft images compared to someones older Canon body (40D, 50D, 20D, etc). Yet if you read reveiws and tests you'll see this camera performs better in all areas. What most people don't understand is that they're looking at a 18 MP image at 100% and pixel peeping which is like sticking your nose up to a 35" picture and looking for defects lol. Most of the complainers can't wrap their brain around that. Either that or it's someone trying to say it's not as good as a 5D Mark II in low light or nosie performance. Well duh cause a FF camera has a larger sensor therefore will handle light and noise levels much better than a 1.6 cropper will. Every new camera has it's share of doubters and haters until after the dust settles and then it starts all over again when a newer model comes out. Seen it happen time and time again for years. Same song and tune.

That being said I can't help but love this camera. It's very fast, the AF is insane, dual processors are a blessing, noise levels is great and IMO looks more like film grain than anything. The HD is a big plus for me as I intend to start getting into videography/cinematography.

This is a thread we started on POTN part of which as a joke to all those doubters of the 7Ds capability in resolution at 100% crops. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=799284. it should get reall good
