And here's why...
CBS for the past three to four years has pretty much taken every major SEC game. My father and I muted the tv and turned the radio on tonight, that's how bad it is.
The whole idea of college football "experts" (or as they like to call themselves, "analysts") is boring, and stupid. Who really cares what a blubbering idiot thinks about a game (Or in respects to their so called job, a fair an unbiased view on who's going to win)? Every time you catch yourself watching and complaining about someone else's opinion about Alabama on TV, you've become a tool. I can say this because I do it every time I turn the TV on.
So really, what good are these college football analysts anyway? What do they do for you? If they guess a score or a certain team winning correctly, what happens? Does everyone in America suddenly respect the media in a higher sense and start wanting to watch what's broad casted on their network? NO!
On top of being pointless, at least ESPN has an entertaining value to watching sportscenter. It's not that anyone really cares, it's just that the characters and the way they go about things is a little less annoying. Don't get me wrong, I can't stand Lou Holtz, and I can't stand Kirk either. Nothing, however, can even compare with CBS sports announcers for the past three to four years.
Every dang time they have some stupid thing going on during the game, (that has nothing to do with football) it takes up at least 2 seconds of the current play. ESPN has been guilty of this as well many times during the 'Bama - UGA game.
Here's a break down of what you have to endure every Saturday:
I'm not even going to bother with the man in the studio that wears the eyeliner and has previously attended auburn, so let's go to the game day announcers..
On the sideline...
Tracy Wolfson
First of all, what the heck does she know about football anyway? You know there's someone in the booth telling her what to ask the coaches during the pre-game, half-time, and post game interviews, but we know that person must be dumb too because half of the time she doesn't even know what's going on. At LSU when they played Auburn last week she interviewed Les Miles asking him what went through his mind during the last timeout of the game. He didn't call a time out.
Obviously the only reason and purpose she serves on this god given sport is to look pretty and draw attention. Everytime I see her on the TV screen I know it's time for me to run in the kitchen for a coke--but wait, I've already missed the play because she's talking about a stupid chinstrap.
In the booth...
Gary Danielson
Why is the rule (for males) that if you were a quarterback in the NFL, or at Notre Dame, you're guaranteed a job somewhere. Guess what, JUST BECAUSE YOU PLAYED WELL DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN BE A GOOD ANNOUNCER. Shut your biased mouth. Every time a play on a the field is reviewed he is the first to say "uh, I dunno" before the second camera angle is even approached , HE NEVER AGREES! Also, what is it with his inability to pronounce a players name right?
Verne Lundquist
And idiot beyond measure, not only is he a pain to look at, this man obviously knows nothing about football. Half the time he doesn't pay attention to statistics that matter, just past statistics five games ago. He hypes up every play as if history will ALWAYS repeat it self.
Verne: "SO LAST WEEK ALABAMA THREW A PASS ON 3RD AND 5 AND MADE IT, WE WILL SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN THIS TIME"
Hey Verne, last week you tried to say no to that extra chicken sandwich, will you fail this week?
He is the most biased announcer in the history of college football, I can't even count the number of times that has gone for the media friendly team. I remember when he whined about the "throat slashing" that dj hall gave after beating Florida in 05. The idiot obviously needs new glasses, or possibly a younger brain, because he's out of the loop considering that only meant the game was OVER at that point.
He has also fell in love with Tim Tebow. I really think someone should let him know that Tim probably has a girlfriend. It's not just tim, to be honest, it's every all-american, heisman, and memorable player want-to be and he can't shut up about them. I never have ONCE heard him say "If alabama can line up this way, and if Arkansas can stop doing this, they might have a shot at a touchdown", it's always "back in 1967 bama did this, and they lost". Sure he will state the obvious like saying 3rd and 1 on the LSU 10 or something, but saying anything half-intelligent would have to be muttered in the yankee accent of Danielson.
Also, the CBS scoreboard is so ineffective, if it ever even really had a purpose. If terry grant in the first play of the game gets a one yard carry, it will blink "GRANT 1 ATT 1 YRD". YES WE KNOW, IT'S THE FIRST DANG PLAY OF THE GAME. Tell us this around the 2nd or 3rd quarter when both teams have put some touchdowns on the board, then we can check the yards.
I really would rather watch bama games on jefferson pilot.
