I Bought a New Grill for the Deck

After many a great meal, my old grill finally gave up last fall, so we've been saving our pennies over the winter to replace it. This being the first full summer with the new pool, we figured we would be spending quite a bit of time out back and we decided to get a really good grill this time.

I went to Lowe's yesterday and bought the one I've been looking at all winter. It was delivered this morning and it might be the most beautiful thing I've ever owned.

I'm psyched to give the infrared a try. This afternoon, I picked two Flintstone-sized t-bones to throw on it. Unfortunately, the rain put a damper on tonight's cookout, but I'm hoping for drier and warmer weather tomorrow.

That's great reger. You sound like a proud papa. :)

BamaPride, I've still got a big green egg i purchased back in 1992. It's one of the original made of fire brick. Still does a turkey or a boston butt like no other.

I use a 12 gauge steel drum style grill/smoker with offset firebox and double iron grills to do most other stuff these days. I still pull out the green egg for holiday turkeys and butts, though. It's gettin' that time of year again!

Here's an update. So far, I've done steaks, pork chops and burgers and I'm very pleased with the grill. The best thing about it is the "no flair up" thing. There's no way for anything to accidentally get burned. The food cooks really fast and there are no cold spots on the grill. It's self-cleaning too, which is really cool. If the weather is nice I think I'll try some barbeque this weekend.
