🏈 How would you grade Sims' performance?

Just my opinion but..... I think Blake has earned his chance, without having to continue to have to look over his shoulder...no matter how he plays. He completed 73% of his passes. When he struggles. ..... consider pulling him. Until then give him his chance. When other QB's didn't get the playing time. ..they headed for the door. Blake stayed with it....All I say is let the kid have a chance. And that applies to anyone else on the roster at any other position also.

I bleed crimson and by no means is the sky falling. The defense has got to improve. If that happens we can win with Sims, Coker or Bateman. QB position is still up for grabs though.

I just want to see what Coker can do. Only after that will I pass judgement on our QB position. I do think think the competition is far from over. I Kinda feel like it's gonna be like it was with Andrew Zow and Tyler Watts.

So I guess we will have Sims fans, and Coker fans. No one getting along because of their QB's not playing at the time.

I think the only thing that's wrong with Sims is he's nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Once he learns to settle down i think he'll be fine.

My problem is not so much being a Coker fan, it's the fact that supposedly this competition came down to Friday night and then Coker didn't play any meaningful minutes. Some Bama apologists claim he had some sort of leg injury. Then why did he enter the game to handoff, if he was indeed injured - which would show a lack of judgment on someone's part in playing an injured player?

First-game jitters and offensive foibles aside, Sims played quite well.
I was impressed with his ability to evade rushers and create a second pocket to pass from a few times.
He looked athletic and agile (although I'm not ready to say he looked comfortable back there just yet).

I still don't like his delivery as it's low and to the side, he will have passes batted down/tipped when we see bigger
defensive players on the line and linebackers. WVU is pretty good, but not that good and we didn't hammer them
as bad as we could have with our running game.
I think any qb could be successful this year with our stable of RBs IF we don't ask too much from our passing attack.
I was unhappy to see us go for dedicated pass formation on 3rd and short a couple of times...and fail.
Our identity, hopefully, will be one of offensive power *RUN* game and not so much a passing team.
Sims seems like a dink and dunk qb. Coker probably has the long ball better but not the evasiveness of Sims.

Overall, the success of this year's team, like the other teams that WON a championship, will be how well our running game
develops in tandem with the passing game. We gotta watch out for Lane calling too many pass plays in situations where
our RBs can dominate. Remember, in the grand scheme of an entire game, it's the crushing run plays in the fourth that ice a game and demoralize any team trying to hang with us late.

And, I like the fact that Saban is calling this a competition and refusing to call it a controversy, because it's not.
Even the guys on Jox this morning are bringing up race....utterly ridiculous.

I've read several comments about Sims staring down Amari too many times. I watched the game again today and let me say this... Homer Smith used to teach in our pre snap reads, that you look at your corners. Look at the boundaries. Which side is the shortest throw? Look at the depth of your corners. Which one is playing off the most or is the "softest"? Softest corner equals your safest throw. The corner playing Amari was bailing on the snap from 7 yards off and thus allowing Blake to nickel and dime them to death.

Why is it because it Alabama and the two QB's one white the other black it a race thing? PLEASE enough of this stuff Saban want the best one out on the field to lead his team.

@rick4bama, those are all of the haters that like to spout off crap that they know nothing about! All anyone has to do is go back and look in the record books and there you will find Andrew Zow's name near the top of all of the passing records.

If ya'll believe this wasn't decided until Friday night, then I'm starting to question Saban's intellect. You can't install a game plan and rep like you need to not knowing. I don't buy that for a minute. That's Sims toeing the company line.

I'm way more concerned about the defense.

I tool my wife to the game and I have to admit he looked better than I thought he would. Yes he missed reads, yes he made a few errant throws and lined them up wrong at times. It was also his first start and it was a big game. He threw for 230 and north of 70%. There is a reason Coker didn't see the field.
