Can the players sell them without it being a violation? What's the difference between a ring and a school book?

You cant sell em while in school but the minute you graduate or leave you can sell whatever you want. As far as the books go, I think its just not allowed to sell a book that your scholarship/grant pays for (granted that is really stupid because regular students can do that no problem).

This issue had to do with athletes getting textbooks that they didn't need for their course work. IE: getting a math book for a friend and that athlete wasn't taking, or didn't need, said book.

It had nothing to do with books being sold.
