Alabama was up 27-17 and held on to win the College Football Playoff first-round game 34-24. The win came after it looked completely lethargic early on.


Some on the Alabama sideline didn’t totally realize what was happening, though many of them danced to the song.


“I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t know that was 50 Cent,” quarterback Ty Simpson said. “But I did know that song.”


Simpson’s coach was also somewhat in the dark.


“I didn’t know it was live,” Kalen DeBoer said. “I didn’t see.”

It’s a shame what college football is becoming…I’m a dinosaur and can’t imagine going to football game to see a concert at halftime or get excited about half dollar or anybody else. I can honestly say if these people were performing in my front yard, I would not even look out the window.

And don't get me started about fireworks on/near the field. I HATE the hazy/smoky look that lasts for 10-15 minutes of gametime afterward.

I understand why they do all of this silly shit. They KNOW that folks like us are going to watch regardless of what they do. They will do ANYTHING in an attempt to draw more eyes (which will give them more advertising $$). It's the reason Taylor/Travis is pushed for every Chiefs game - attract the swifties. I fully understand all of that & yet I hate it & will continue to bitch about it!

I just do not watch a football game to see a concert regardless of who it is. If I want to see a coancert well I go to a concert . But in the end yeah this is about entertainment and getting non tradtional eyes on the game. Make the gameday experience appealing to people that might not be their normally. Turns into dollars I am sure. It certainly seemed exciting to the fans there and the players.
