šŸ“ How many, and who do you expect to see sign on the early signing dates

Based on my math (shudder) I look for as few as 12 to sign, and as many as maybe 17-18. I'm going 15 for the average. I do know they want to have at least five spots left open before NSD-February.

OK, I've given this a little thought looking at who is already committed...so we'll start there.

Given today's news ... geez, starting with linebacker. Quay Walker isn't expected to sign until February. He's been with this class awhile now but that hasn't stopped a few SEC schools from pitching him heavily.

Jackson is a hard one to get a read on. He's committed, has been for a few months now, but has also visited A&M a few times. It's up in the air with him at this point from my understanding.

Whether they end up as a DE's or LB's is left to be seen but since the two mention earlier are LB's ... Latu and Davis make two.

Do we count Smith? If so Smith, Jobe, and Armour-Davis would make five (secondary.) Does Williams play WR or CB? Still, I see him as six.

Where you put a guy like Slade Bolden? No clue. I'm going to call it offensive backfield. Bolden, with Ford, make a total of eight.

Since we're on offense Brown and Ekiyor will give the class 10.

I like what Wynn brings and really expect him to see some playing time next year. Good size kid for the DL...he'd make 11.

Then we've got the punter, DeLong, who makes 12. (Big shoes to fill but he's got the name for it, eh?)

Now, I don't know if you happened to catch Lugs say he expected a few silent commits for Bama to sign tomorrow. I really don't think Anoma a secret but if y'all want to call it that, so be it. From what I understand he'll commit and sign tomorrow--13. (I think he's likely the best pass rusher in this class.)

Barmore a hard one to get a read on as to when. First it was February but then he's considered getting it over with. 14?

Now it's guessing games guys ... could we see Wood-Anderson finally make up his mind? Sewell?

Of course if I'm including Smith I have to include Parks?

Here's what Casagrande wrote.

The new world of December signing in college football is about to become a reality.
High school seniors can ink those National Letters of Intent from Wednesday-Friday in the first early signing period for football players. How it will all play out remains somewhat of a mystery mostly because there's no precedent.
Though Nick Saban is no fan of this shift in the recruiting calendar,he'll still bring in the majority of the 2018 signing class by Friday. Saban previously said the Crimson Tide will sign 22 total for this recruiting cycle.
Alabama currently has the No. 7 signing class in the 247Sports composite rankings.
How much drama this signing day will bring is one of the great question marks after the circus early February became. Here are the prospects in play this week who Alabama is targeting.
-- DE Brenton Cox (5-star) will decide between Alabama and Georgia between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. CT Wednesday live on ESPNU. Cox is a five-star recruit who visited Georgia last weekend.
-- QB Emory Jones (4-star) will announce Wednesday. He's committed to Ohio State but Alabama has been a contender. Jones will sign at 10:30 a.m. CT in Atlanta.
-- OT Penei Sewell (4-star) was expected to sign Wednesday but 247Sports is reporting that decision might be delayed. The Saint George, Utah product is also heavily considering Oregon and new head coach Mario Cristobal -- the former Alabama assistant.

-- DE Eyabi Anoma (5-star) will announce his decision on Friday, the final day of the early signing period. Michigan and Maryland are also in play for the No. 7 overall recruit, according to 247Sports.
-- Jalen Cunningham (3-star) from Odenville is considered a favorite for Ole Miss with Alabama and Tennessee in the mix, 247Sports reported. He'll make his pledge at 11 a.m. CT.
-- TE Dominick Wood-Anderson (3-star) will decide between Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M and others on Dec. 20. Wood-Anderson is the nation's top tight end prospect coming out of Arizona Western College, the same school ex-Tide DL Jesse Williams attended.
Previewing Alabama's early signing period

-- CB Josh Jobe will sign Wednesday.
-- OL Emil Ekiyor will sign Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. CT Wednesday in Indianapolis.
-- DE Cameron Latu will sign Wednesday.
-- CB Jalyn Armour-Davis will sign this week.
-- WR Xavier Williams will sign Wednesday
-- CB Nadab Joseph will sign Wednesday after the former LSU pledge committed to Alabama in early December
-- Saivion Smith: JUCO transfer already on campus and practicing.
-- ATH Slade Bolden will sign at 11 a.m. CT Wednesday in West Monroe, La.
-- RB Jerome Ford will sign Wednesday

Several Alabama commits are not expected to sign in the early period, instead waiting for the traditional February window. Those players include TE Michael Parker, LB Quay Walker and ATH Vernon Jackson.
The current Alabama team will practice early Wednesday afternoon and Saban will address the signing class/Sugar Bowl prep at 4 p.m.

Per A. Bone

Alabama is in really good shape to land signatures on Wednesday from Eyabi Anoma, five-star defensive end from St. Francis High School in Baltimore and Christian Barmore, four-star defensive tackle from Neumann- Goretti High School in Philadelphia.

It gives both an opportunity to focus on their grades until the summer. Alabama has done a lot of digging the last few weeks on both prospects regarding their academic situation. The first thought is both would have an uphill battle. Barmore more so than Anoma. Both have work to do but Alabama believes both will qualify.

Another big note on this day is Alabama commitment Vernon Jackson’s intentions to sign with the Crimson Tide on Wednesday. Jackson planned on waiting until February to sign in order to take additional visits. I’m told he has decided as of today to go ahead and sign. He will still enroll in the summer. Big news here for the Tide as Texas and Texas A&M have been all over him since his commitment.

Dominick Anderson, four-star tight end Arizona Western in Yuma, continues to tell Alabama everything they want to hear. I think all will believe we see it regarding his signature on Wednesday. Saban wants him and believes he will be a great TE in the NFL. He’s told Alabama he is coming before only to commit to Texas. We will see what happens.

Alabama remains optimistic regarding Brenton Cox, Rivals100 defensive end from Stockbridge High School in Georgia. Cox will announce his decision on Wednesday morning between Alabama and Georgia. Alabama believes it has a shot.

I don’t have a final answer on Penei Sewell, Rivals100 offensive tackle from Desert Hills High School in St. George, Utah, just yet. His father said he will likely not sign on Wednesday. He still might. I’ve heard Alabama feels like they are losing ground with him.

Emory Jones, Rivals100 quarterback from Heard County in Franklin, Georgia, is expected to officially flip his commitment from Ohio State to Florida on Wednesday. I discussed in the Insider Report. A very stunning turn of events.

Finally, do not be surprised if we see Bobby Brown, four-star defensive tackle from Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas, go ahead and sign on Wednesday. Brown told reporters a few days ago he will not sign. He has been wanting to wait to see who is hired as the new DC in College Station. We are starting to hear some rumblings he might sign tomorrow. We’ll see what happens. Bama is in it.

Alabama commitments Quay Walker, four-star linebacker from Crisp County High School in Cordele, Georgia, and Michael Parker, three-star tight end from Westminster Christian in Huntsville, Alabama, will sign in February. Alabama feels very good about the current position with Walker.
