If I had said that back in September, I would have been laughed off this board and sent to the looney bin. How little we fans and pundits can predict football.

I've seen "it's a down year for the SEC." I've seen that countered with "it's a different year for the SEC."

Bottom line is it's a year where two teams, a year removed from having a SEC record of 2-14, are playing for the SECCG.

I'm all for watching good football games. Yet, when I look at the schemes both of these teams employ, there's little that makes me interested in watching the SECCG next Saturday.

I'm betting the ratings reflect the same apathetic attitude I have towards this match-up.

Auburn is officially the darling of sports media. They are this year's Notre Dame. Maybe it's just me but it feels like everybody is rooting for them all of a sudden because they stopped the evil empire/Alabama, and are the luckiest and flashiest team in CFB.

Two consecutive miracle games .. and an SECCG. Nobody predicted this. Well, except Barners.

This is the end of the SEC's national title streak. I do not see how the barn rats would jump ahead of an undefeated Ohio State or Florida State. Missouri won't beat auburn either. I suspect that that game will be over after the 1st quarter.

What makes you suspect that? Is it maybe...
Cuz Mizzou took the game to A&M better than we did?
Cuz Mizzou has D-line players who could out run ours in a heartbeat?
Cuz Mizzou doesn't have a problem with team communication, and functions like a pack of wolves?
Cuz they have two fully functional QBs?
Cuz even on the sideline they look as hungry and as cohesive as a unit as they do when they are on the field, unlike.... y'know.

Yeah.. they're screwed alright.

I would be surprised if Auburn did NOT leap over Ohio State. OSU has no impressive wins this year. Auburn has two (three if you count Georgia for the flashy finish). They just beat number one, whereas OSU struggled against an unranked opponent. Granted, it's rivalry weekend and sh*t (obviously) happens, but still .. Nobody had a bigger, flashier win this week than the Barn.

I also think Mizzou will not beat them. Auburn has everything going their way. Momentum, energy, luck, excitement, drive .. That's a hard train to derail.

Well, Mizzou was never out of it until the mid way of the 4th. But yeah.... those pesky Barners just keep surprising everyone. LOL.

Allbarn did not surprise me at all. :lance: I am one that predicted we would beat them 49-0. So much for predictions. My problem is what many of us have. My Crimson goggles didn't see how well they played the running game. They just put up 800 yards rushing on back to back games with us and Mizzou. If FSU can't stop them from running they will beat them. 59 points with 400+ yards rushing just a week removed from a brutal game with us tells me that they have the Karma Mojo to get it done. (The SEC still beats up each other too much) I hope in the future we will play other 1A conferences instead of all the cupcake teams. The playoff system will help next year.

From the 2012 BCSNC game through this year's Iron Bowl, all kinds of things happened that nobody could have predicted. In no special order: 1. Mal Moore's death; 2. the dismissal of the "thug trio" 3. the suspension of various players (i.e., for DUI, breaking team rules, etc.); 4. unrelenting rumors about "Saban to Texas"; 5. the "Fluker" illicit payments mini-scandal; 6. A. Cooper not having the huge sophomore season that his freshman year promised; 7. the Yeldon-Drake RB duo never fully materializing in the same way as, for example, Ingram-Richardson; 8. an excellent special teams unit dropping off precipitously after the loss of Vinnie Sunseri; 9. the on-going rotation of players at the CB position; 10. Auburn's huge rebound under a first year head coach. All of these things cumulatively, and probably a few that I'm forgetting, resulted in the difference between Pasadena and New Orleans.

But through it all.... we persevered, remained in the Top 4 and are going to a BCS bowl. All things considered, Bama did well. Sure we could be happier, but the corks are out of the champagne in my locker room.
