so, this is how coaches are paid these days. Just think it's funny how the line is drawn at what students and such can be given, who they can shake hands with, etc. But coaches get paid by boosters, I don't get it. I've always had a problem with this as to why, just figured I would raise the question.

On Sunday, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad that SMU was close to finalizing the details of a contract for Jones. The source said the deal is expected to be booster-funded. SMU athletic director Steve Orsini reportedly has sold as many as 20 boosters on the concept of donating as much as $100,000 per year for five years.

I believe CNS gets paid from boosters as well. Just the way the business works these days.
