I have heard from students on campus that McElroy is going to be very good. I know the guy supposedly knows the playbook backwards and forwards, and he seems to have alot of zip on the ball, perhaps the most since Croyle. I am just wondering if you guys have anything to say about this; I know this is mostly just school chatter but I believe that it is some what relevant(especially after watching the final TD at Bryant Denny last season). The guy looks like he can play. What say you?

You know, I have been looking forward to McElroy playing since we got his signature. I love the film of his high school playoff game. He looked sharp. The throw he made to Maze against AU was spot on. He has never seemed to complain with his role on the team and always looked engaged when the camera panned to him on the sideline. He did quite well for himself after having to wait on Chase Daniel to graduate high school and I think he will turn some heads now that he knows the team is his to operate if he earns the starting spot.

BamaFan4Ever and I are in lock step on this one. I honestly can't think of a good reason to base an argument upon that says that he will not be every bit of a solid QB as we need.

One can find a stronger arm, faster runner, bigger body...but at he end of the day a QB has to be a winner. McElroy is prepped like no other QB I can recall.

He understudied under Chase McDaniels as Chase won the Texas State Championship. Mac followed suit and did it himself the next year.

Mac understudied under JPW, preformed beautifully when called upon, and has time to know Playbook. He has a team around him that believes in their coaching staff, their system, and themselves.

If you script out a QB's story, THIS is what it looks like.

While I think Mcelroy will be the QB, I do think that if Star J. has a solid grasp of the O, it will be a battle because Saban likes Star's overall qualities. That said, Texas Tech would've liked to have him so... We'll see.

I have thought all along that the job will be McElroy's to lose. I see Star giving him a run for his money though. The QB postion talk can be so comical. I'm not getting on anyone on here, so no one needs to be offended. Everyone talks about how good the starter is until he has a bad game and then evryone turns their love to the back up. Thats just an observation that I have seen at all schools and at every level. You never hear that talk about the starting Mike linebackers' back up or the centers' backup. The QB position is a starnge bird.

The day before the Iron Bowl, Greg's mom came into our store to get some Bama attire for themselves.(lost luggage  ) We bragged on him to no end. I was like "he looked extremely good at last years A-Day", then she said "well, he's really excited about this spring and has been taking time to study the playbook all Thanksgiving Break". The guy's a three-time, all-SEC academic honor roll for crying out loud. Anyways, she was really nice and thanked us for being so supportive of the team. Honestly, she couldn't have been any sweeter of a person, plus she didn't look bad either.

On a side note, he was auctioned off at the Scholarship Date Auction last week and I think went for about $400 or so dollar. Arenas also got auctioned, he went for about $300. These seem a little low, but neither of them were backed by an organization, so this was pretty much a couple hundred straight from someone's pocket as opposed to some people who went upwards of $1000 because different organizations were backing them.

McElroy was pretty nervous up on stage when he was getting auctioned off. He kept jumping around and was almost to the point of shaking. You could tell he was out of his element. Also, Terry Saban was the announcer. It was a pretty cool thing held in the Zone.
