Yeah, it is certainly different than a normal "commitment". I don't know if it is 6 or 8 year (or maybe something else), but it is something along those lines. Probably easy to look up, I'm just short on time.

Commitment starts the first day of your 3rd year of school and the commitment could be anywhere from 5-10 years (10 for pilots)

This amount includes the costs required for cadet monthly pay, tuition, books, room and board, food, summer program, flying programs, dorm cleaning services and operation and management of all the cadet area facilities.

"On scholarship" would refer to an athletic scholarship if Im not mistaken. He can still get his academic scholarship and play football with no problems tho as long as his grades dont slip causing him to lose his scholarship.

I would think academic scholarships would create a loophole ripe for the Duke's and Vandy's to exploit.
