Republican leaders in central Florida were surprised that Holtz was considering a run for the seat since he hasn't been involved with the local party, said Lew Oliver, chairman of the Orange County Republican Executive Committee in Orlando.
"I doubt sincerely that 90 percent of the people who live in that district have heard the name before," Oliver said. "It would be different if the guy was named Bob Griese or Don Shula, or someone with Florida connections."

Mr. Oliver must not know much about college football. Lou bought his own private jet because he couldn't take 5 steps in an airport without being stopped.

Lou would be my congressman. District 24 is the district in which I am registered to vote.

90% of people theredont know him? Thats hard to buy, maybe a northern state like New York or New Jersey would be a place where thats trrue, but not a state containing Florida, Florida State, and Miami.

Even if that were true though, more people would still know him over their congressmen.

I wouldnt mind seeing him in Congress, heck it wouldnt make it worse or more confusing than it already is.

And Holtz isnt someone that Id identify as a crook.

Seems the Sean Hannity Show gave him a little more ego though.

I have a real hard time believing that statistic. The only way that is possible is if that district only has 10% that follow college football. Young or old alike, he's been around far too long not to get name recognition.

Believe me, there is a vast majority of the voters in that district who would recognize his name. By the way, Lou lives in the Lake Nona area which is in the very, very SW corner of the district, South of 528 and East of 417. I live just SE of 417, about 6 miles from Lake Nona. My wife used to be his banker at Lake Nona, which is why I knew about why he bought the plane. He told her it was driving him crazy trying to work his way through airports.
