šŸˆ Hiring and firing in the BCS era: Who do you consider to be the worst hires in the last 15 years? (

If you haven't happened to notice, UCONN fired its head coach, Paul Pasqualoni, after starting 0-4. (In the AAC there are three teams that have started this season without a win. If anything, that should dispel the myth the ACC deserves a place at the "playoff table.")

Pasqualoni joins Kiffin as the only two BCS AQ head coaches who have been fired in September.

On what I call an interesting note, up until this weekend there were two other coaches that had been fired very early in the season—in this case example after their sixth game: Tommy and Terry Bowden.

Setting aside Chizik jokes (if at all possible,) when you look around the collegiate football landscape over the last decade and a half who do you consider to be awful hires by BCS school administrations?

And while we're talking about bad decisions by school administrators, who do you think made a mistake by firing their head coach to quickly?

  • fRan to tamu
  • Pappy to Bama
  • Cheezit to ISU and then *U
  • Lame Kitten to USC
  • On a technicality, if I can call it that...*U not hiring Turner Gill
  • Pellini to Nebraska??
  • Other names are swimming around in my head...I just can't recall them now.

Was Pelini a bad hire or was the mistake made with firing Solich? CBP isn't doing that badly of a job at Nebraska as I see it: 51-21 (.708)

We'll never know what Price could have accomplished at Bama. I tend to think we'd have done a lot better than Shula. It's my inclination he'd end up being in the Perkins/Curry class.

Bilema (sp?) to Hog Heaven is still a questionable hire to me.

The firing of Solich at Nebraska is probably the worst firing or at least the one where the trigger was pulled too quick.

Callahan to Nebraska was an epic bad hire.

+1 This was one of the ones whose name didn't come to mind.

Terry, I don't necessarily think Pelini is a bad hire, but he is not a good fit at Nebraska. He's trying to save face to keep his job, but he clearly doesn't want to be there, and the fans sure don't want him there any more. And I agree, Solich should have never been canned.

Weis to Notre Lame, bad hire. To Kansas, however...Nowhere program for a nowhere coach. Seems to be working for me. So far that piece of crap teamhas gone 2 - 1, which is already doubled where they were all of last year.

I thought Dooley had the potential to be a good hire because he was successful at La Tech. Apparently, whatever coaching decisions he made as far as personnel and recruiting while at Tech, stayed at Tech. I did like him though, a lot.

I thought firing Cutcliffe and hiring Orgeron was an epic fail.

I was literally sick to my stomach at the prospect of Bama hiring Rich Rod. I am so thankful his wife looked down her nose at Tuscaloosa.

Firing R.C. Slocum and hiring Fran was just.... wow....
