🏈 Hightower Results

The only thing I take as solace, as in what makes me hold on to a little optimism, is Dont'a foot wasn't planted.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, that w/o his foot on the ground the knee wasn't under load during the hit.

FWIW, it's been posted on another board that an anonymous source is saying it's a severe sprain. Again, that could be simply rumor or from someone with good sources like TP, et. al.

It looked really bad on TV just from DH's demeanor. He looked really really freaking angry like there was a serious problem.

My question is how can a head on hit to the knee cap tear your ACL? If anything I'd think he might have a broken knee cap. I'm obviously no doctor.

There are all kinds of things it could be. It might not even involve his ACL, but no one will know until they get the MRI results back.

ACL's are a funny thing though. I tore mine playing racquetball a few years ago. That's nothing unusual, given that it's a high-torq activity. But I've known people that have torn their ACL's by walking down the street. I knew one guy that tore his stepping off a curb, and another guy that tore his while swinging a bat during a softball game. He stepped into the pitch, swung, screamed, and went down like a ton of bricks. Knees are tricky things.

i know hightower is injured and needs time to heal, but still.. isn't hightower playing ILB with one leg better than most ILB's in D1 anyway? wrap that thing up!!! we've got a NC to win..

honestly, hightower has one hell of a career in the NFL.. i hope he has not injured himself badly..

I think I might have worded my question wrong lol. Who do we have stepping up to fill in? Upshaw? T. Patrick? N. Johnson? Hightower was a BIG boy having him, Cody and McClain in the middle made running near impossible. Is this going to effect us severely is what I guess I'm asking.

post game quotes from bama players about hightower... very encouraging..

Cory Reamer: "The way he was acting on the field, he was in a good mood. He was happy."
Courtney Upshaw: "I didn't talk to him much, but he did say he was OK."
Marcell Dareus: "He's going to be OK. After the game, he was walking around and talking with us. It's something minor. I really don't know what it is, but Dont'a, he'll be back. He's a strong player, a tough guy."

Just me talkin', but the way his knee was flopping around during the exam on the sidelines made me queasy. I've never seen a normal knee do that.
We'll be alright. Reamer looked acceptable at the position (except for the horrible penalties on special teams).
Best of luck and a speedy recovery!

In the game thread last night, I posted what I had received in the form of a text message from the training room. The suspected it was a season ending injury.

Now, from what I'm getting, it's MCL and ACL damage—but, bottom line, done for the season.
