🏈 High Tide Or Wild Cat?

So what is the official name of our formation? High Tide formation? Pissed elephant, what do we want to call it? What are they calling it in practice?

I think we should reserve The "p***ed elephant" for a direct snap to Cody. Short and goal only. What say you? Or maybe just the elephant formation.

I see the potential in running it so long as we can establish the running game. Doing it and then setting up for a nice pass while pulling in the LBs would be a nice pickup and add some diversity to our game plan. Gives the opponents something else to plan for.

Can't believe we have so many naysayers based off our first game (and I'm not talking about just this formation). Wait, yes I can.

What about Rip Tide? What we saw against VT might just be the tip of the iceberg, in that there are a LOT more things we can do from this formation. Personally, I hope Coach doesn't look at film & can it. We need a little diversity in our "O".

I've been pretty critical of the High Tide, Wild Tide, Wild Elephant or whatever you want to call it, but after watching replay of the game three times I think I like the formation.

My change of heart on it is because it was our FIRST game and that first game was against a pretty stout defense and there were a few times where we made positive yards.

I say call it whatever you want, but I like the Wild Tide personally. But, I don't care what it's called. I think as the season progresses it'll get better positive yardage from it.

It can become an effectice tool in our play calling and give def. something else to plan for. we didnt do very much with it this game but if we throw some different looks in with it it can work.

Maybe get someone like Earl Alexander and he can give us a passing threat from that formation as well. He used to be a QB in HS so he should be able to hit a 5-10 yd pass to keep the def from cheating up when we line up in the High Tide

I don't like the idea of EA running the ball. I don't see him as physical enough.

FWIW, in Saban's presser yesterday he called it the "Wild cat."

Coach has always called that formation "wild cat". He completely misunderstood the reporters question when asked what he (Saban) called it. The reporter should have asked...

"With it being the Wild Hog at Arkansas, the Wild Reb at Ole miss, what will it be called at Alabama the Wild Tide?"

With that being said, I personally like the Wild Elephant. It fits the pattern of Wild (insert mascot here). :hyper:
