🏈 Here's the explanation from Petrino for having too many players on the field--four times.

There are a number of reasons we could point to and say Petrino is full of crap here--namely, the last decade. I've got another reason that has nothing to do with how I view him as a person.

Just this past week in the pre-game thread there's an article discussing how Louisville started game preparation for Bama in the spring, continued it through the summer, and of course had their prep work this fall.

Now, this happened twice on offense, and twice on defense. So, not only are we to assume (he's telling the truth) they had the same term for a personnel and groupings...on BOTH side of the ball?

my thing is...

how the hell does this happen FOUR times in one half?!!

i can understand once, MAYBE twice; but FOUR?! it happens four times before anything is figured out and possibly fixed? and, like @TerryP said, on both sides of the ball.

it would've sounded better if he would've said, "well, we just didn't know what the hell we were doing out there."

Over the years I've held onto the notion if a guy is one who'll cheat on his wife the chances of being able to trust him with other things are slim. Some of that comes into play when I ask this question.

Do we know they weren't intentionally trying to see if they could get 12 on the field? Having the same terminology for a grouping and a personnel package lacks common sense. To have the same issue, on offense and defense, defies logic and borders on...well, let's call it what it appears to be; bullshit.

I called bullshit as soon as I read this on Twitter! Once or twice yes but 4 times on both offense and defense is nothing more than a lie. They were simply ill prepared and outcoached. You practice the little things ALL of the time at ALL LEVELS!
