I had always thought of the TO as the opposite of the spread. Does this make sense?

Not really you still need alot of speed in both and a dual threat QB.

The other end would be a power-I or a wish bone offence... stuff you dont really see anymore.

How many times in 2002 did CBS announcers say during the pregame hype that Zow was the better runner and Watts the better passer? It seemed like every game. I wonder why?

The same thing could happen with McElroy and Star. GMac rushed for over 700 yards his senior season in a spread offense. Star rushed for over 700 as a Junior, but his runs were often scrambles instead of designed runs. McElroy is a little slower, but also bigger/heavier.

I know that a lot of people are discounting Mac, but anyone who was 321 of 450 for 4500 yards in Texas 5A and tacked on 500 yards rushing...

One thing that is seldom mentioned, and it has all the bearing in the world, specifically with the QB position.

For those that don't know what a 20-yard shuttle test is.

The 20 yard shuttle test lateral speed and coordination. (think elusiveness in the pocket, ability to escape a rush and a quick spring for a 1st down.) The player starts in a three point stance, straddling a yard line facing the sideline. When the whistle blows, the player runs 5 yards to one side, touching the yard line. He then sprints 10 yards in the other direction and again touches the yard line, at which point he sprints back to the yard line he started from.

When timed, at an official event, Greg McElroy had a better shuttle time than Terry Grant.

Rivals had him listed as the #2 Dual Threat QB in the nation before his senior season started, only behind Terrelle Pryor. After his senior season, they decided to move him to the #5 Pro Style QB. He wasn't ranked as highly as a pro style QB than what he was as a dual threat QB because there were alot more good Pro Style QB's that year than there were dual threats.

The triple option is an offense that takes so much practice to perfect but then depends on other variables. Your passing game will suffer in the long run because so much time is put into practicing the TO. Turnovers on mesh points and pitches are some of the hazards of the TO. Give me the pro style/ I teams and hang on.

You could add a few wrinkles to the pro style offense in order to utilize your QB if he is indeed a running threat. Some of the read option stuff( reading the end as to whether to give or keep it) would be useful.
