I would be interested in learning exactly why the turf has been removed.

If it is in fact because the grass was not growing properly, again, maybe it is time we bit the bullet and hired someone from Auburn or Miss State to tend to the turf.

Afterall, how hard is it really to grow hybrid bermuda (presuming we have Tiftdwarf 419 or some similar strain) grass in Alabama? Every other field with natural grass in the SEC seems to not have the annual problems we experience. (Problems that by the way will only get worse with the addition of the SEZ due to the added shade the structure will cast in the early Spring and late Fall with the Sun lower in the sky - so maybe we are doing some pre-emptive work for that eventuality.)

That's a good point. I hadn't even considered the extra shade with the addition.

I don't recall the last time they re-sodded the entire field. I seem to recall they only spot sodded the higher traffic areas last summer.

Just as a fwiw, I caught this pic surfing around...it's supposedly the new speakers they are putting in the stadium and they go completely around BDS.

Well I'm glad the dead grass threads can be aswered now...those along with the uniforms are the most annoying. The surround sound is going to be sweet...I'm pretty pumped about that.
