Do not be surprised if a Defensive player wins next year. Exceptional play on the field is no longer enough. There must be an angle, a story.

Should Ingram win, he is "the guy who overcame the sins of his Father". Bradford, "the first Native American" winner. Tebow, "a saint" wins, making us all feel like there is hope in a troubled world.

Colt McCoy? White Boy from upper middle class Texas. No story there. That's what the O'Brian Award is for, right?

Toby G? No story there. Congrats on the rushing title. Thanks for playing.

Tebow? Tired story. Played out. Sorry son, only one per customer.

But for Ingram, Suh would win, IMHO. He is worthy, and there is a great angle. "The first true Defensive winner". The numbers that I see show Suh and Gerhart in a virtual tie for second. The nation's leading rusher in a virtual tie with an interior defensive lineman, andx in front of every QB in the country? Times have changed, and a voting precedent has been established.

In the politically correct society that we live in, there would probably be some issues in the PR department with whoever pushed that story. Even though I do think it is remarkable considering the lack of true RBs that are white...and even less that are successful in BCS conferences.

I like the way Gerhart runs.
