šŸˆ Head to head comparison between Pearl and Oats.

This leaves me shaking my head. There's a huge difference in seeing the whole picture or having a view through the lens of a few losses.

Bama is getting killed, in a position of NEED, in Mississippi right now...Pete doin' his thing.

The thing that strikes me is there are two realities here. Steele is a better coach; experience does that. He brings a different mentality. The other thing about the ol' guy is this...while people say "he's a good recruiter" I've seen him recruit for years. He's not. He was lazy the last time he was at Bama and I expect the same now. It's his MO.

I hope he moves along and moves along soon. The tradition deserves a better recruiter.

It starts with the "Jimmy's and Joe's."

I agree about the shaking head part but that's toward the homage still being paid toward Golding. Yes, it does start with the recruiting. However, IF he was this wonderful recruiter, then never has a CNS assistant done less with more. Penalties, poor tackling, & nominal pass coverage are hallmarks of Goldings defenses. The fact that Drew Sanders left 'Bama & became of Butkus finalist at Arkansas (of all places) is the biggest backhand to the face about Golding. Had not there been a Will Anderson Jr, the defensive stats would've been all the more average.

He's an average D Coordinator with stats that do not flatter for someone who 'allegedly' had recruited great players.

Please. What would you have done when you're looking up the depth chart at one Will Anderson?

Consistently, one of the best defenses in the nation. But, he didn't please the fan base. We saw some losses but you can not point to those losses and say, "Pete's fault."

The man just didn’t know linebackers…I still don’t blame him though…He was a secondary guy…unfortunately we may see him rise against us..

Please. Thats Easy... he played middle lineback for the piggies. And he was damn good at it. He should have taken the middle linebacker spot.

NONE of our middle linebackers played better than him. But somebody was too fixated at him being a outside linebacker. Hmmm...
I always thought Drew Sanders transferred because of Dallas Turner showing out and passing him in the depth chart.

Statistically, yes. But the eye test would tell us a completely different story. And Alabama did lose to LSU and TN last season due to poor performances by the defenses.

Golding's defenses were never as bad as our fans (me included) said, but were never as good as the stats would show. They were right at average. My biggest criticism of his was how the defense always folded in the big moments. There was no reason for LSU to look as efficient as they did in the 2nd half against Alabama last season.

That's half of the story. Yes Dallas turned out to be a better DE/OLB. However, that doesn't mean that you throw the baby out with the bathwater. It boggles my mind how nobody on staff could see the talent of Sanders & not make a strong push to move him to ILB.

The staff missed this. Plain as day. And I can't image Sanders wanting to leave had that position been an option for him. So he leaves & goes to Arkansas at a new position to become a Butkus finalists.

Nobody can convince me either Bama starting ILB was better than Sanders. Either they missed on talent assessment or missed on player development or both.

Loved seeing our dominant pass rusher dropped into zone coverage against Tennessee and getting beat in man to man by a skill player against Kansas State. I don't even want to hear about matchups or any of that. You get that guy's hand in the dirt and use him to disrupt, plain and simple. His biggest asset was taken away due to those calls.

Wild how a basketball thread that hyped up Oats devolved into Golding.
With the same ol' dumb shit.

You should love seeing a defensive player follow his assignment.

It's the assignment that is the problem. You'll blame Saban, but I tell my boss no all the time when the betterment of our company is at stake. That's why he hired me,not to just blindly tell him yes.

It's cute you're still holding Golding's jock to this day. He fell on the biggest stage multiple times.

And has a ring. Yeah, holding his jock. There is not one thing you can point to that I've said about the Alabama defense the last few years that is not true.

The assignment is the problem? Your complaint isn't with the DC, it's with Saban's system.

Funny seeing bitching about the linebackers and nothing about the defensive line...ya know, where all this shit starts? What? Is ol' Freddie above reproach?

Agreed the D line has a linebacker teaching them…Bring in Josh Chapman for D line and put Roach on backers and assistant head coach… Have Ha ha on deck for dbacks

The problem is you speak like you're 100% right all the time and everyone else is wrong. Impossible to be right all the time no matter how well thought you think you may be. The stats you quote are against bullshit teams. We have hashed this out MANY times. He made his bacon against inferior competition and got torched against the decent teams we played. "He has a ring"???? Ha ha, the offense single handily won that ring, but nice try. Even you have said defenses don't win Championships and then provided a stat to support your claim. Also funny, because Georgia won two with superior defense and a quarterback you said was worthless the last few years. Either way, Golding was not up to the standard of the guys before him. He ranks above Tosh, high major praise there (sigh). We will learn in just a few months where we stand. Golding did less with more. Even Schuman would have been envious to coach our talent from the last two years. He won two Narional Championships with Stetson Bennett running the offense. We couldn't win one with Bryce Young running it because we couldn't stop anyone. Bryce only averaged over 40 points a game.
