I dont know why any would. In football You can compare Saban( or bama) vs the closest or #2 ....
But not using AU as a comparison...

However AU and others look for a favorable comparison vs bama...as they should....

But...in basketball....or other sports....we aint the big dog...

Ummmmm. Some universities in the SEC are better than bama in sports other than football

In the same light, some position groups in football are better than the opposition found with the Tide. See UT's receiving corps last season.

I've no problem with anyone saying "that team is better," or "that player is better."

The thing that strikes me is there are two realities here. Steele is a better coach; experience does that. He brings a different mentality. The other thing about the ol' guy is this...while people say "he's a good recruiter" I've seen him recruit for years. He's not. He was lazy the last time he was at Bama and I expect the same now. It's his MO.

I hope he moves along and moves along soon. The tradition deserves a better recruiter.

But steele is a gap filler. Til Nick gets who fills for longer. And has been decent in recruiting

I believe that if Saban would have let Golding coach the secondary he would’ve done better… that was his wheelhouse… The schools he made good defense as he was a secondary coach… just like I think our current D line coach would be better with the linebackers (because he was a linebacker)… Pruitt was an exception… pruitt was just a good defensive mind…

Look at the school lists for the defensive linemen. I don't know who has that recruiting area for Bama. Personally, when asked about the position coach, every point has a "but."

Steele has a track record of not being anything other than lazy in recruiting. Pete is a way way way better recruiter

The tradition deserves a great recruiter and a great coach. Maybe Steele is a rotation to far the other way with recruiting deficiences. I think CNS will fix this over time.

If Steele proves to be a better play caller and coach/teacher, which he should, then his "lazy" recruiting should have a negligible effect overall. After all, how much recruiting did Pendry do? He more than made up for it on the field.
