🏈 Hawgs/Tide....

There are 3 games that I am really "worried" about this year: LSU coming to Bryant-Denny, @ Florida, and Arkansas. I am starting to feel a little bit more comfortable with the game against Arkansas because I think that our DB's match up well with Arkansas' strength, their passing attack. Having said that, there are two things that worry me about playing ya'll. First of all, our pass rush, which has gotten a little bit better than in passed years. and with your "new" guys on the OL I feel that this area might not be as big of an issue as I originally thought. My 2nd concern, and probably the biggest concern is that I feel like Arkansas fans and players see this as a rivalry game, and gets a whole lot more pumped up about this game than do the Alabama players and fans. Not saying that as a slight towards the hogs, but we already have Auburn and the Vols as our two big rivals.

I say this for a couple of reasons, but specifically last season ya'll came in to that game with a lot more energy than our players did. And lets be honest, these are college kids, and energy and momentum can change the outcome of a game in a split second.

Also, I do business with a good bit of people from Arkansas, who are Hogs fans, and I have heard the same phrase from every single one of them that I talk to..."man, that sure is becoming a big rivalry, isn't it!"

With this being said, I think it's going to be a good, physical, close game, with Alabama's ability to stop the run and pin their ears back on the pass rush that will be the difference in the game.

Its that time of the year again? The hogs fans are back...:lance:

Our D will surprise you folks this year.... to be honest, it has surprised me... I never thought Bobby P would have a D this stout.
...

Really? Against some fantastic offenses. A Div IIA opponent and a weak Mountain West opponent. And now a Troy team that has had a week off to heal after getting pounded by Clemson, but is that really impressive after Clemson's showing against mighty Wofford?

Sure Alabama played similar weak teams in Kent State and now North Texas, but I'll take the showing versus a ranked Big Ten opponent Penn State as compared to the slaughter of Missouri State!!! Did you pound your chest and do some pig sooie's after that one?

I'm not saying Arky wont or cant win or that Bama will, but to say your defense is stout after the competition you've played is weak. Reserve that comment until after some major competition. I can go in the backyard and play my 8 year old in football and say I had a stout defense.

I went to the spring game at Arkansas, and i would say our Offense was clicking very well.... Yet our D held them up many times... It is absolutely the best D that we have had in YEARS!..... and I would say our Offense>Bama's Offense... WOuldnt You???? Remember Knile Davis was there.... as well..... So, truly this isnt the same as beating the crap out of ur kid... FWIW

Bamafan615... this is true... It isnt a real rivalry for you at all... and I understand that... But for us, we wish, hope for, long for a win against Bama

You see... Us Hawg fans havent been there in a LONG Time... and the BCS bowl, even with a loss was a taste of sweetness.... We have one more hurdle in the SEC... We can beat LSU, Have, and will again... The Barn.... done it.... Bama, Not since Shula.... ohhhh how I miss him! :nopity:

I'm a Razorback fan through and through, but when it comes to a game like this I revert to something I heard years ago while watching "professional wrestling"

"To be the man, you got to beat the man!" Ric Flair

That means until Arkansas beats Bama, Bama is still the top and we are looking up, but I think it should be a real good game.

I don't see how you can make that statement. If we have better offensive production next Saturday does that mean our offense is better?

There are a few unknowns. As example, how will Wilson react to getting pressure and dealing with the scheme we employ? Mallett had seen it a few times and it still got to him in the end.

RB's? That's a Bama advantage. TE's? Bama as well. WR's? You've got a great group but answering this question goes back to my first one. IF our WR's have better days than UArk's does that make ours a better group?

Our WR's vs your secondary....OR....your WR's vs our secondary? Who has the advantage?

the piglets will pull out all the stops against Bama... just like last year. it didn't matter then with technically a better team. i don't think it will matter now.

unless arky can run the ball with consistency, this game is over before it starts.

Agree to an extent.... Except there is not WR group in the nation better than ours.... and your secondary has not had a challange like this yet. Our O line is goiing to be our man problem... Yet, Wilson is much more mobile.

Look, either way... Isn't this fun. Terry P. knows me better than mose of ya and He also knows I love this stuff. Win or Lose, i do think it will be a great one to watch... and in the end I hope no injuries happen... and whoever wins goes on to the NC!!!! WPS!

I'd accept "there probably isn't as good of a WR group in the nation." Probably being the key word. I could make a case for Houston considering the completion percentages are practically identical between Houston and UArk but the Cougars have more completions, more yards, etc. If you think about it that is the same argument used to say Mallett was the best QB in the conference; yards, TD's completions, etc.

It goes both ways, ya know?

Now, the thing is this secondary has seen a group like yours before. Last season. And, at that point, we were already injury depleted. Now, with a years worth of experience under their belt they are seeing the same group sans Mallett. So, now we are back to Wilson...the OL...

BTW, being more mobile isn't always a good thing. He's liable to scramble from outside pressure only to meet a blitzing safety in the middle. Collision. He's already had his bell run this year and that was against whom?

BTW, when it comes to special teams play—IE: Adams and punt returns—we need to make a distinction between FCS and FBS teams, right?

was gonna post more, got a call ... sick princess at daycare.. Gotta go ... This would happen on my freaking day off... C Ya..

Hope that went OK...
