Michigan continues to trend in the right direction under head coach Jim Harbaugh, but so far, have yet to achieve any wins of national significance during his first two seasons in Ann Arbor.

Taking that into consideration, it’s somewhat ironic that the Wolverines open the 2017 season against the opponent Harbaugh’s Michigan team got arguably its biggest win over — the Florida Gators. Harbaugh led the Wolverines to a 41-7 win over the Gators in the 2016 Citrus Bowl but he is currently 0-2 against archrival Ohio State and capped last season’s campaign with a loss in the Orange Bowl to Florida State.

While in Mobile recently, where he was inducted into the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame, Harbaugh gave an interview to A.P. Steadham of Bama Mag. Steadham asked the Michigan coach if he would be interested in playing Alabama in a neutral-site non-conference game in the future. Harbaugh answered yes, but hopes the meeting comes together in the College Football Playoff.

ā€œWe’re doing a neutral site game this year with the Florida Gators, in Dallas,ā€ Harbaugh said. ā€œOur goal would be to be playing Alabama in the Playoffs. They’ve been consistently there. No reason to expect they wouldn’t be right back there again at the top.

ā€œThe thing that’s on our mind is to get ourselves good. Get into the Playoffs, win that championship. It’s a goal we have set for ourselves.ā€

The two national semifinal games this season will be held Jan. 1 in the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. While a semifinal matchup of Michigan and Alabama would be entertaining for sure, it would only be topped by those two fan bases if the two met in Atlanta for the Jan. 8 National Championship Game.

Yes....they have to win the big 10 (with 14 teams...figurethat out).
To be fair they are rebranding—though slowly. At 11, their logo actually made sense to me (with the long term of BIG being the conference name.) Now, their official logo is just B1G.

Here's what's a little messed up, IMO. They are not only changing the conference name, they are also starting from scratch when it comes to their domains. IE: Their official site is Big10.org

I can't imagine how much the owners of B1G.com or .org, and the other related domains might cost.

Jim Harbaugh expecting to play Bama in the playoff sounds like heavy praise for our football team from the bipolar one. He still sounds like a coach trying to sell his program to the country. Saban, in turn, would give you a quick lecture on the evils of looking past A-day practice #7.

Can't fault the guy for getting his team and supporters pumped up by saying he wants Alabama. Hell, we still gotta get there, and there is no guarantee that will happen. They have a little ways to go before they are ready to step into the main event though. They lose some guys, but yet they are recruiting well. They still have to get past Ohio State before they become a real threat. We would have stomped Ohio State like Clemson did, so Michigan didn't have much of a chance last year. But hey, he's building a program and doing some of the same stuff Saban has done, just in a different way. Recruit your territory, go after your rivals, and win. He's doing those things.

Should we expect anything less from Harbaugh? He can't let more than 2 weeks pass without putting himself or Michigan in the news somehow some way. I suppose that is good for Michigan but it lets you know how far the program has slipped when you have to keep shinning the spotlight on your program. Plus the media eats up ANYTHING to do with Harbaugh so it figures.......
