🏈 GymTide: National Champs...

Heck of a job by Coach Patterson and her staff. This team was young and inexperienced. They struggled early in the season, only to get it back on track and retake the #1 slot going into the post season where it came down to them and the defending National Champs.

Did I mention that this was a young team...now finishing the season with some real experience.

GREAT JOB Ladies. Roll Tide!

I read where someone offered up the question as to if Sarah Patterson deserved a statue just as Nick Saban received a statue.

It occured to me, and this is offered for context, that Coach Patterson has 5 National Championship while Coach Bryant had 6. Measures by NCs, Coach Patterson is the second best coach to step foot on this campus...ever. Furthermore, she will likley have her team sitting as the preseason #1 as the favorite for #6 going into next season.

Not counting Coach Patterson's chickens before they hatch, but what more must someone do in order to be recognized? What kind of statement woudl be appropriate? One NC Nick Saban and Gene Stallings get statues outside their home venue. Six NC Paul Bryant has Stadiums, Museaum, Roads, and my sister's dog named after him.

Seriously, what should be done? A statue outside Coleman? Remaining Coleman as "Patterson-Coleman", as they did for Coach Bryant?

Congrats to the ladies and Coach Patterson! I would say that a statue should go up in her honor outside of Coleman. She is very deserving for what she has done for our school.

Remember that thread that talked about Alabama's sports' revenues? That's why Saban gets a statue and Patterson doesnt. Trust me, I'm all for Crimson Tide athletics and how great the second tier sports have done at the school, but come on, don't go overboard. I may be the minority on this board and someone will bash me for it, most likely Terry, but no statue is going up for the gymnastics coach anywhere. And I'm fine with that.
