🏈 Gus Malzahn to Auburn as OC

Honestly, I think that's a great hire for Auburn. Truth be told when we were looking for Applewhite's replacement...I was hoping for Gus. I am glad we got McElwain instead though. :D

Good hire?

I'll use the term "interesting hire."

Chizik said he was returning Auburn to a power football team.

Power football doesn't equal Malzahn.

I see a lot here that makes me think "Tony Franklin part deux."

On a separate note, this is complete BS.

From the Auburn Rivals.com site:

Under his tutelage, Arkansas had the nation's top running back tandem with Heisman trophy runner-up Darren McFadden and fellow All-American Felix Jones.

wasn't that part of the issue. Nutt wanted to run and Gus wanted his Springdale boys to get the ball. With the running tandem Arkansas had, I would have stuck with the run as well.

wonder what the springdale kids that left Arkansas for Tulsa are thinking right about now...

Houston Nutt is good football coach with a dynamic personality. I am sure that he can rub some people the wrong way, but he's a successful guy. With Malzahn at UArk, that team seemed more dysfunctional than ever before in his tumultuous time at UArk. In fact, I'd lay part of the blame of Nutt leaving Fayetteville on Malzahn.

That's not the kind of guy I want in my program. It's clear to me that Chizik is going to have a hard time being the "boss", and that spells disaster.

Goodie!!

Tulsa did loose one verbal commit last week a qb from Lake Hamilton HS in Hot Springs Ar. idk if it had anything to do with this decision. As for Gus going to AU this could be a good move if they let him run the offense unlike what happened at Arkansas.

I have had the same thoughts as well.

Interesting times on the plains right now!

I believe it will be better than the Franklin debacle. (No blame on Franklin personally, his hands were tied), Gus was getting it done at Tulsa. Tulsa is by no means an SEC team, but neither was Fresno State, and I am impressed with Mac. IMO I would rather play a good AU team than a mediocre one.

LOL! I seriously doubt CGC is who Malzahn will have trouble with. I really can't see CGM's personality really "meshing" with the GOB net at gooberville. Should be very entertaining.
