šŸ“” Group want Dixie out of bama fight song

Yea Alabama! – Alabama Fight Song

Yea, Alabama! Drown ’em Tide!
Every ā€˜Bama man’s behind you,
Hit your stride.
Go teach the Bulldogs to behave,
Send the Yellow Jackets to a watery grave.
And if a man starts to weaken,
That’s a shame!
For Bama’s pluck and grit have
Writ her name in Crimson flame.
Fight on, fight on, fight on men!
Remember the Rose Bowl, we’ll win then.
Go, roll to victory,
Hit your stride,
You’re Dixie’s football pride,
Crimson Tide, Roll Tide, Roll Tide!!

I guess we can no longer be Dixies pride

My response to these people: take your complaints and stick it up your asses along with your pride colored dildos. The South has always been known as Dixie, and it will forever be known as Dixie, and we are not going to voluntarily erase our culture and heritage to suit your insidious ambitions.

I have two words, bite me!
I have 2 more words for them.....

FUCK OFF!

If they don't like it, then can leave my state and never come back. I swear, these people just won't stop. They don't want to rewrite history, they don't want to remake history, they want to ERASE history.

And, yes, I consider that song, and the whole idea of "Dixie" a part of history.
That school's history
This state's history
And MY history

Guess we need to rename the Mason Dixon line as well. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

While we are at it, let’s rename the color black to ā€œextremely dark whiteā€, change slavery to ā€œunpaid laborā€, rename cotton to ā€œfluffy flowerā€, no more using plantation..that’s now ā€œlarge house surrounded by massive acreageā€, since slaves were brought over on ships, let’s rename those to ā€œfloating transport vehiclesā€, they traveled across the ocean so we better rename that to ā€œexpansive body of waterā€, they were powered by wind so that’s going to be ā€œinvisible moving forceā€.

Hyperbole aside, some people just wake up wanting to be offended and no matter how much changing occurs, it will never be enough for them!! (Insert screaming faceā€

I bet the same people have no problem singing DixieLand Delight at the top of their lungs when the stadium is rocking. Attention Whores! They really have no idea what cause, if any, they support. Just going along with whatever the popular thought of the moment is amongst their friend group. God forbid they ever come up with their own ideas. Nothing more than sheep.

Were she complaining about the band playing Dixie due to association with the antebellum South (no matter who wrote it), I might be amenable to providing an audience for her petition. But it is one word in a song and it refers to the colloquial nickname of the region based either on the Mason-Dixon Line (through a New York children's game) or the Ten Dollar bills issued in New Orleans the prominently had the word Dix on the reverse (Dix being French for Ten). Her lack of understanding about the historical context surrounding the Rose Bowl win bringing prominence to Southern football teams (as evidenced by her insistence that it be changed to Bama's) negates her entire argument.

If anyone from this group has ever stepped foot in and/or shopped at a Winn-Dixie, then they're a hypocrite. And I have absolutely no use for hypocrites.

Really need a petition to ban rap music on campus as it glorifies violence, drugs, and it’s degrading to women. See how that works?

 I suppose UTAH is next. St. George, Utah is known as Dixie. Dixie State University is there. Dixie NATIONAL Forest is just north of St. George. The huge hillside letters, used in the West for aerial identification, at St. George are DIXIE.

"When the Civil War broke out in 1861, Brigham Young thought it would be necessary to raise cotton, if possible. Many of the early settlers of St. George originally came from the southern states. They came to the "Cotton Mission" to grow cotton, but they also brought with them a phrase for the area which has become widely adopted--they called the St. George area "Utah's Dixie."
