Alcohol does more damage than guns. Now I love a good bourbon or scotch, but ever since I've had kids I have a drink maybe once a year. I grew up and didn't need alcohol anymore for whatever reason.

No, but I also haven't heard of a real good reason to get shitfaced either, and you see folks falling out every gameday and girls getting raped or taken advantage of, drunk driving, fights, public indeciency, and all sorts of otger things. I don't care either way, just playing devils advocate really.

If someone can get a massive flask in a game they can get a gun or bomb in. It's not a 100% effective process and you better know that or you're just lost. Shit, get a locker in the Touchdown Club and you get free reign on a Friday before game day with no checks.

Not exactly. I've seen plenty of flasks but no "massive" flasks. Plastic flasks and minis won't set off a metal detector. Weapons and bombs will. Are you in favor of allowing weapons into stadiums? Other than general gun rights, what's the value?

What you are describing is mostly bad behavior and the most grievous is happening outside the venue. I have encountered plenty of drunks, that's for sure, but the few drunks that cared to tango with others have usually lost that dance.

Someone mentioned Homeland security and the way security points are being defined at sporting events. If Mississippi lawmakers passed this bill without an amendment to public events, how long before the Feds untie that knot?

What's the value of being armed when you're going to the story to get milk? I know of someone who was a victim of an attempted robbery and if it wasn't for "I'm carrying everywhere" who knows? That gives me a different perspective as well. Does that mean there's a threat of being robbed on campus? It's happened on campus...so, yeah.

Where does it make sense to carry a gun? Church? A milk run for the kids? The movies? Post office?

Iowa is an open carry state. Here's an article I ran across a little while ago when I was considering how I'd vote if this came to my state. Before I link it, let me say this. This perspective is coming from the view of passing the background checks to purchase, then the testing and certification to carry of a firearm.

IF I'm in a public establishment and I'm drinking I'm not carrying. I do patronize places who support carrying when you're in their place and I've been a part of two places where signs posted asked, "No concealed weapons, please." (And that saved hearing people trying to slide to the side and whisper "did you know he's/she's ...?")

In Texas, a posted 30.06 sign means no conceal carry in an establishment and the 30.07 sign means no open carry (conceal carry holders only) in an establishment. I know many who will not step foot in a place that has a 30.06 sign.

Here's something to consider...

How many SEC events might be held in the state of Mississippi in the first place? That's his "threat." I can list some quick no's ... basketball, baseball, and baseball for sure. Softball? They'd lose that: MSU had it recently. Non-revenue events is what it boils down to.

I'm all for keeping your family safe, and if you are a licensed carrier and responsible, it shouldn't matter. There are already guns in the stadium technically with security and other personel.

I consider those plastic flasks massive because they can carry atleast a pint, which can pit anyone on their tales. And I honestly believe if someone wants to bad enough, they can get whatever they want in.

It doesn't matter either way to me, just playing devil's advocate is all.

I carry. There are some places and times that I feel more compelled than others to carry. It sounds crazy, but I don't feel the need to carry to a stadium. I don't carry at my church either. We have 5-6, designated by our church that carry at all times though.
