šŸˆ Grant tranferring to Auburn?

Heard something yesterday PM that he had just enrolled in summer school at Auburn and would be participating in summer workouts but paying his own way. Maybe CNS didn't give him a release to transfer to Auburn.

Bingo--he's a walk-on. Since he isn't on scholarship, Saban couldn't stop it. There's no way he would've agreed to let the kid go to Auburn

honestly, I've read some pretty ugly comments by bama fans on other boards about this move. I get the rivalry, but to me this is just stupid to dog Grant. He has to do what makes him happy at the end of the day, might not be where I wanted him to go, but I'm certainly not gonna dog the kid.

so for anyone that knows the rules, does he still have to sit a year - not sure if this includes walk-on transfers...believe it does.

He does have to sit out a year. If we had given him a release to transfer to Auburn he could have been placed on scholarship.

Unfortunately for him his 2nd choice and the school right next to his hometown just happens to be our most hated rival. Really it doesn't make sense for him to go to AU. If there is any position AU is stacked it is RB. Grant will be coming on board at the same time as highly touted Blakely and will compete for playing time with TJ Yeldon. If he didn't like the depth chart at Alabama just doesn't seem to be much better at Auburn. Just my thought.

My only concern is him knowing the playbook. I don't think his transfer was anything vindictive. He never seemed to be an Alabama or Au fan based on his interviews during recruiting, and his father (a high school coach) never seemed to play favorites with either fan base. I could be wrong. I think the kid obviously wanted to be near home and was probably continuously "recruited" by Troopa and comp even while at Alabama. Grant obviously knew he'd be welcome at Au, and I don't think that was just by chance.

I'm not too concerned about that. It's no secret what we are going to do, how we are going to do it, etc. By the time late November rolls around about the only thing that can be changed is snap counts. Sure, we can insert a different play or two, but it's really a "this is who we are" time of the year. Think about it.

Not to mention he spent most of his time on the scout team last season.
