This was a 43 min interview today at 6pm on The Game w/ Ryan Fowler.

Very good interview, listen to the whole thing if you have 43 mins to kill. If you just want to hear the part about Blake Barnett listen around the 20 min mark through the end.

Here are some quick marks so you get an idea of what he's talking about.
  • First 5 mins > George Whitfield talks about his background
  • 5 min - 19 min mark > Talks about the change of the QB position, skillset needed, various QB work (Newton, Luck, Winston, Manziel
  • 20 min to the end > talks about Blake Barnett (23 mins of talking about Barnett).

wow...."He is the best QB i have ever seen at 18"....."He is the best QB that has been through the elite 11 in the last 9 years"
"he is better on day one ...than some of the NFL prospects iv seen coming out of college"
"He is a true competitor!" He walked in day one and dominated. He is a better scrambler than Mariota....but with a NFL mind and caliber arm"

HOLY CRAP!

Hope that's true and not Whitfield tooting his own horn.

not Whitfield tooting his own horn.

Cynical of me? Probably. But, I'll admit, my first thought was "this is a bit self-serving."

I know where the cynicism comes from. I see people like Whitfield lauded for their "development of high school quarterbacks" and then I see how that position is the most underdeveloped in the high school ranks.

The stuff I took away was how he handles business, how he handles making mistakes, and how he carries himself.

I believe Whitfield has only worked with him twice outside of Elite 11 work. I don't believe this is Whitfield tooting his own horn, as he's barely worked with him.
