Clay-Chalkville receiver and Alabama commitment
T.J. Simmons' comments Tuesday during Jefferson-Shelby football media day.
Simmons said he grew up an Auburn fan, but his allegiance began to change when he started attending games in Tuscaloosa a few years ago.

"I started going to games and seeing the atmosphere and the fans and things like that," Simmons said.
That's a big reason he committed to Alabama – and not Auburn – in February.
A 6-foot-2 receiver who is rated as a 4-star recruit and among the state's top prospects for the Class of 2016, Simmons also said other schools have largely stopped recruiting him
since he committed to Alabama.
"I don't have to worry about that at all," he said.

Last year, he caught 43 passes for 965 yards and scored 20 touchdowns as
Clay-Chalkville captured the 2014 AHSAA Class 6A title. Simmons delivered a momentum-stealing 79-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown against Saraland in the title game.

Even though six months remain before National Signing Day, Clay-Chalkville coach
Jerry Hood said he doesn't expect Simmons to change his mind.
"T.J. just said, 'That's where I always wanted to be. I love the school. I've been there on campus for games, and I'm going to commit,'" Hood said. "And once he committed, we still stand by it that. That's your commitment. ... I think he's solid to Alabama."
