🏈 Game Week~ Wisconsin

Gotta be a bit of a nightmare for Wisky trying to game plan their defense. Damn near no chance to zero in on anything specific other than Henry the 1st running the power sweep
Even if we had named the starter months ago it's not like they have film on any of the guys except for some garbage time on Coker. I'm sure it will be run heavy when you tally the stats but I wouldn't be shocked to open up with some deep balls just to back them up on their heels.

Hell first play could be the WRs running as fast streaking down the field and Coker just throws it as far as possible.... even if incomplete they will be on their heels.

Per Ben Jones, Tidesports.com:

Aaron was still out today, so you get me at practice for the second day in a row. Alabama was in full pads but some on-and-off storms chased them inside today.

Spent more time today watching the wide receivers (and by proxy, the quarterbacks). Overall, I thought the QBs looked sharp today. I think I only saw one incompletion that wasn't a drop. Good showings all around as Wisconsin prep continued.

I meant to take a closer look at Calvin Ridley today (more on him in a bit), but Robert Foster looked really good today. He was one of the first two or three receivers going through drills, and I think that's a move up for him. Showed some impressive athleticism on jump balls (no defenders) and was probably the quickest in and out of his cuts of any receiver today. Don't know if I've paid much attention to him before today but I was impressed with what I saw. Looked good on deep routes and on some underneath patterns, like when they worked on some rub routes with two receivers going at the same time.

Calvin Ridley looks like he's going to be in the receiver rotation, but at this point I'd be surprised if he's among the three starters. You see him out there and he doesn't immediately stand out physically (6-1/188) but he's so comfortable in everything he does. His presence reminds me a little of Travis Rudolph, who was a freshman at FSU last year and should be their No. 1 guy this year. He's quick off the line of scrimmage, adjusts to the ball naturally when it's in mid-air on intermediate and deep routes, and can lunge at the end of a route to extend his catch radius when he needs to do so. Most of the time he makes his adjustments during the route and doesn't need to make a last-minute grab at the ball, but on some of the shorter routes where there isn't time to do that, he still goes and gets the ball with some force when it arrives.

Also, saw Deionte Thompson with a nice catch that he tipped to himself a couple times. It wouldn't fly in a game but still shows good coordination and concentration to be able to do that on the run. One-handed catches are almost routine these days, but ArDarius Stewart had a nice one-handed grab of a ball that was behind him by a hair.

No practice tomorrow. Press conference with CNS on Monday.

I wonder if we can look at the past for a guide to how this QB competition will play out. Best comparison I can remember is when CNS had a hot shot redshirt freshman QB at LSU named Jamarcus Russell and an upperclassman in Marcus Randall. Saban switched QB's frequently that season, going with the hot hand. Randall would usually start, but if he was inconsistent or made errors, Saban would insert Russell only to start Randall again the next week. The two ended up with almost equal passing attempts that year. I could see something similar developing unless someone seizes the job the first couple of games.

Really bad news guys, really bad.... Two defensive players carted off the field. One most likely season ending the other should be ok. I'll leave out names right this second I want to make sure this doesn't hit main stream yet. This seriously ruined my morning.
