🏈 FYI, Saban has pulled in 350K in bonuses already...still another 250K on the table.

BCS Bowl invite gives him 200K.
SECCG win adds 125K. And, the SEC Coach of the year gave him 25K.

A win over TX in the BCSNC adds 200K. Another coach of the year award (nationally) is worth 50K.

Pendry, McElwain and Smart are all getting over 70K in bonuses for this season.

Saban deserves it all. Just look at the bowl payouts for the past 2 years.

Bowl payouts really have very little to do with the year in bonuses. Outside of expenses, Arkansas is only getting 1MM less than Alabama for its appearance in the Liberty Bowl.

But, Petrino is looking at a bonus this year of 25K.

Seriously? Is there any place to see the breakdown across the conference. I knew the SEC was socialist, but damn.

It's just something I came across and found interesting...then chalked it down to memory. I'm sure it can be found.

Four categories, four different payouts.

If Bowl is 6MM or more it's a 1.7K payout (100K more if it's BCS) plus expenses...

4 to 5.999MM = 1.2K plus exp.
1.5 to 3.99MM = 1MM plus exp.
0 to 1.5MM = 800K plus exp.

Remainder of monies divided 13 ways.

Obamanomics at its finest. I'll can the political talk now.

I can't fully agree with that analogy. Leaving politics aside...

This season, Alabama and Florida are the cash cows of the SEC in football revenue. While it (football) does account for about half of the revenues (I'd have to really do the math, but that's close) there are other schools carrying their weight in terms of revenue for the conference as a whole.

Kentucky in basketball will bring in a lot this year.

In Bama terms?

In the last three years we've seen about a 30 million dollar increase in revenue for the athletic department as a whole. We're getting another 10+ million from the SEC plus our gains in revenue we'll see because of this season.

I don't mind sharing with the wealth with SEC schools in football...keeps a lot of things alive throughout the conference.
