This struck me as kind of funny by some random fan responding to a thread about a rankings article. I don't necessarily agree but I see his point...LOL!!!

I disagree. They can recruit like they do because that don't have to the rest of the SEC a few miles down the road. They can play like they do because they don't deal with the physical bounding that happens day in-day out in the SEC. They can score like they do because they only face defenses when they travel outside of their conference.

I ask you this; if all teams only played conference games, how respected would USC be? How respected would we be? If the answer is "the same", then you've got apples-to-apples. If not, then there should be some impact on their record.

USC would do just fine in the SEC. They're built just like an SEC team this year: physical, punishing defense; control the game on the ground; and the QB will do what he has to do to win.

And USC goes head-to-head with elite programs all the time for recruits and wins their fair share of battles.

Pete Carroll's teams win big games. You can count on the early-season slip-ups, but the Trojans would succeed in every conference.

Oh, and they've never played a D-IAA/FCS school. They get respect just for that.

If USC could magically be part of the SEC they would be considered a challenger every year more than the AU's of the world. LBS, I am not saying they would obliterate everyone on their schedule but they would damn sure compete for the title. Our conference is simply not that friggin elite once you get past FLA and BAMA this year. We have some pretty good mid-tier teams but I believe USC could hold their own in most of those games. To use the analogy of taking them out of their recruiting base is unfair because SoCal just happens to be located in southern California. I'm sure if they were suddenly moved to Montana, things would go "south" in a hurry but then, they wouldn't be USC would they?
