I know. It's a rumor. And I'll be the first to say that as such it is worth about as much as the paper that I am writing this on. :D

A friend said that he heard at church from a fellow church member who works at the University that The State of Alabama was going to shut down the Brice Hospital facility next to the University (moving those services elsewhere) and allow the University to purchase the property. The University, seeing the sustained profitable nature of the Tide Pride program, the luxury skyboxes, and the Zone concept..., the UA is studying the idea of building a brand new, state of the art stadium that aims to seat 115,000 on the soon to be former Brice property. This is the real reason that the south endzone construction was "postponed".

I told you that it was fun

UA is preparing to buy all of the Bryce property, but no new stadium is going up there. Maybe years from now they'll build a new basketball arena, but I doubt that as well.

I heard it was going to be the new facility for the hockey team.

We are way off football, but I can't say that this would not be a nice addition. I have an elementary school son who plays hockey and him one day playing for the Tide would be a dream.

Correct me if I am wrong but Hockey is still at a club sport level, much the same way that Rugby is. Any skating facility would primarily be seen as a student recreational facility that just happens to also houses the club hockey team. As such, it would make more sense to place/showcase such a facility on University Blvd near the Rec Center.

115,000 seat basketball area?!? That's crazy. Not THAT is a fun rumor.

He didn't mean a 115,000 seat arena you knucklehead.  He meant a new bball arena because Coleman is completely inadequate and unfit for modern day, major college basketball.

But given our commitment to basketball I'm with Porter. I doubt we'll see it any time soon.
