And computers are only one part of the equation... if FSU wins out they will be in the title game, period.

Without hearing his reasoning how can you make that assumption?

"They'll be in the title game" based on...

It's no secret the computers are just a part of the equation...but, if those same computers are putting FSU outside of the top five?

Based on the fact that they will be voted 1 or 2 by everyone else, they will be there. I would put money on it. No way OSU jumps them in the BCS rankings.

FSU wins are better than OSU wins right now. Not by much but by enough. That could change though if Clemson or Miami go on a losing streak because MSU is going to only add to the OSU schedule strength and whomever FSU plays in their title game is going to add nothing to theirs.

Curious what all of the top five teams look like according to the BCS computers, if FSU is #5.

Without hearing his reasoning

His reasoning went like this: Suppose FSU has a close game, say a win within 7 points, and GT beats Clemson this Thursday and Gamecocks do as well later this month, the Clemson win is the only "significant" win FSU has and with Clemson having 3 losses, would drag down FSU in the rankings. More or less that's how he explained it.
