Yahoo Sports - NCAA

The Florida State University official who counsels campus rape victims told lawyers suing the school that her office has handled 20 allegations of rape involving football players in the past nine years. Assistant Dean of Students Melissa Ashton made the statement in a deposition given last summer in an ongoing civil lawsuit filed by former student Erica Kinsman against the university. Kinsman says the university failed to respond to her allegations that she was sexually assaulted by ex-Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston.

I clicked on the link last night, and the story came up. Didn't have time to read it.

Came back to this thread just now, clicked the link again, and this is what I get:

Foul play here? Influence from some FSU booster or official forced the journalist/Yahoo to remove the story?

Sure looks like it.

Forced Sex University ..

That school is a joke. Wouldn't mind if the earth opened up and swallowed them whole.

I have an aunt who is a retired professor from there at FSU. She is embarrassed to call that school her alma mater and former employer. She taught and became dean in the special needs/education department. During the late 80's and 90's run of Bobby Bowden, she was proud of the product outside of the "free shoes" incident. Jimbo has allowed the inmates run the asylum.

That's really sad. At least she didn't have to work there during the Jimbo years. Also, kudos to her, for her years in education.

She needs to beat this drum as long as she can. There so much emotional hangups from sexual assault to rape. For women, especially, they tend to naturally inherit this feeling that it was their fault for a litany of reasons of which do not address the mere fact that the perpetrator could stop their actions at any point. PERIOD.

There should be a zero exception policy that DNA testing protocol should be followed irregardless of accuser & accused. If DNA can be confirmed via the rape kit, at least the victim has validation of the event or the accused has validation that he/she didn't do it.

FSU just tried to remove any form a validation of the accused. And needless to say, the DA has the challenge of proving consent wasn't given, especially provided the untouchable status of major athletes.
